Information on the event data recorder
Event data recorder
Reading out data from the ASM memory requires
special devices and access to the vehicle or the
ASM. In addition to the vehicle manufacturer,
third parties such as law enforcement agencies
can also read out and analyse the stored data,
provided that they have access to the vehicle or
the ASM.
Your vehicle is equipped with an event data re-
corder (EDR). The main purpose of the EDR is to
make it possible to reconstruct how the systems
in the vehicle behave in accident situations. To
this end, the EDR stores relevant data (e.g. seat
belt status, speed, airbag parameters, time of ac-
cident etc.) pertaining to a period of a few sec-
onds before an accident. This only occurs in acci-
dent or near-accident situations.
Use of data
Audi can read out or provide third parties with
the information stored in the data recorders or
other similar data in the following circumstances
in particular:
These data can help to better understand the cir-
cumstances in which accidents and injury occur.
Please note that data from your vehicle will only
be stored in the event of an accident or a near-ac-
cident situation. No data will be stored in normal
driving conditions. Furthermore, no personal da-
ta on the occupants or the accident location will
be stored. It is possible, however, that third par-
ties, e.g. law enforcement agencies, may corre-
late the stored data with personal data as part of
an accident investigation.
– If the vehicle keeper or lessee gives their per-
mission; or
– If the police have made an official request; or
– If ordered to do so by a court of law or govern-
ment agency.
Audi may, insofar as this is legally permitted, al-
so use the data for analysis with respect to vehi-
cle operation and safety performance, or may
provide the data to third parties for research pur-
poses.
Reading out data from the EDR memory requires
special devices and access to the vehicle or the
EDR. In addition to the vehicle manufacturer,
third parties such as law enforcement agencies

provided that they have access to the vehicle or
the EDR. Audi will not access the recorder re-
motely.
Privacy settings
Introduction
When using online services, data from your vehi-
cle is transmitted to Audi. Data can be transmit-
ted to service providers if this is necessary for the
respective online service. Only the data necessary
for the online services is transmitted.
Assist system monitor
This vehicle is equipped with an assist system
monitor (ASM). The ASM records data that are
not stored by the EDR in the event of an accident.
The main purpose of the ASM is to make it possi-
ble to reconstruct the role and behaviour of driv-
er assist systems in accident situations. In addi-
tion to the data stored by the EDR, the ASM
stores data related to the driver assist systems
from a period of a few seconds before an accident
or near-accident situation. The data recorded by
the ASM will depend on the vehicle’s equipment
Online services may process and transmit person-
al and location data, as well as enable remote ve-
hicle access.
You can manage the privacy settings for online
services in the privacy settings. Services deactiva-
ted in the vehicle cannot be activated by remote
access.
