Introduction
– Acoustic warnings: A tone may sound continu-
ously as an additional acoustic signal when you
are reversing.
– Active braking intervention: If you do not react
to a warning, a braking intervention may pre-
vent a possible collision or reduce the speed at
which the impact takes place. The active brak-
ing intervention can be switched off/on in the
Driver assist menu ðpage 134.
Fig. 112 Areas covered by sensors for rear cross-traffic as-
sist
The rear cross-traffic assist uses the radar sen-
sors at the rear corners of the vehicle to monitor
the area behind and to the side of the vehicle.
The system can detect moving objects, such as
cars, as they approach the vehicle ðFig. 112.
When driving out of a parking space, you are as-
sisted by the centre display 1 and various warn-
ings.
The acoustic warning signals and the active brak-
ing intervention only occur while you are revers-
ing.
The areas covered by the sensors ðpage 183,
Fig. 112 are examples and do not represent the
range of the sensors to scale.
The system is available when driving in reverse
gear up to a speed of approx. 10 km/h.
