recommends that you practise parking in a
quiet location or a car park. The weather and
light conditions should be good.
Assisted parking
The following systems help you to find suitable
parking spaces and to manoeuvre the vehicle into
and out of them. The driver must always keep an
eye on the area around the vehicle and monitor
the parking/unparking manoeuvre.
Rear parking aid

empty parking spaces. The driver must still accel-
The rear parking aid is an acoustic parking sys-
tem. When the rear sensors (in the rear bumper)
ðpage 172, Fig. 116 detect an obstacle, you are
alerted by acoustic signals (beeps). The system is

the obstacle is closer than before, the tone
will sound again. If the tone is muted and
the obstacle is further away than before, no
tone will sound. Please watch the area sur-
rounding the vehicle when driving off.
A distance warning will NOT be given if the
system detects that a trailer is being towed.
If the towing bracket is not factory-fitted
the functions may not be deactivated auto-
matically.
Acoustic warnings
The acoustic signals sound with increasing fre-
quency as you approach an obstacle which has
been detected in the vehicle’s path. A warning
tone will sound continuously when the vehicle is
less than approx. 0.30 m away from the obstacle.

How it works
Sensors have certain areas in which they
cannot detect the surroundings. Objects, an-
imals and persons in these areas may be de-
tected only to a limited extent or not at all.
Always monitor the road and the area
around the vehicle; do not rely on the sen-
sors alone, and do not allow yourself to be-
come distracted.
The parking aid plus will help you when parking
and manoeuvring the vehicle by providing warn-
ings about any obstacles detected. If an obstacle
is detected by the ultrasonic sensors on the vehi-
cle ðpage 172, Fig. 116, you are informed of
this by acoustic and visual warnings.
