How to operate the speech dialogue system

You can operate many vehicle functions conven-  
iently by voice from the driver’s or front passen-  
ger seat.  
For best results when using the speech  
dialogue system  
Speak clearly in a normal volume. Speak louder

if you are driving fast.  
Speak in a normal tone without long pauses.  
Important: The ignition and the MMI system  
must be switched on. The system language must  
be set to one supported by the speech dialogue  
system. A phone call must not be in progress,  
and the parking aid must not be active.  
Close the windows to reduce background noise.  
Make sure that passengers are not talking  
when you say a command.  
Keep the vents pointed away from the micro-  
phones located near the front interior lights in  
the headliner.  
Via the button  
Briefly press the button on the multi-func-  
tion steering wheel, or, in certain contexts,

Please direct your full attention to the road  
at all times! As the driver, you have full re-  
sponsibility for the safety of the vehicle and  
other road users. For this reason, you should  
only use the functions in a manner that al-  
lows you to maintain control of the vehicle  
in all situations – risk of accident!

and hold the button on the multi-function  
steering wheel or say Cancel. Alternatively,

Via a voice command  
The speech dialogue system must not be  
used in cases of emergency, since the voice  
changes in stressful situations. This could  
result in a failed or delayed telephone con-  
nection. Always dial emergency numbers  
manually!  
Applies to MMI: To operate the speech dialogue  
system via a voice command, select the follow-  
ing on the home screen: SETTINGS > General >  
(Speech dialogue system) > Activate speech  
dialogue system with "Hey Audi".

on/off  
To pause the speech recognition, say Pause or  
press 4 . To resume using the speech recogni-  
tion, press 4 again or briefly press the but-  
ton on the multi-function steering wheel.  
Important: The ignition and the MMI system  
must be switched on. A mobile phone must be  
connected to the MMI system via the Handsfree  
profile ðpage 243. The mobile phone connected  
must have a voice control function that can be  
controlled externally. A phone call must not be in  
progress, and the parking aid must not be active.

Command during speech dialogue  
When this function is switched on, you can sim-  
ply say a new command while the system is giv-  
ing a spoken cue.
