Storage and convenience  
Folding the outer rear backrests forward and  
backward  
The LED in the button will turn on while the vehi-  
cle is lowering. When the loading level has been  
reached, the LED will stay on as long as the rear  
of the vehicle is in the lowered position. The LED  
turns off when the vehicle returns to the original  
level.  
Pull the release lever 1 in the direction of the  
arrow to fold the backrest forward, or  
Pull the lever ðpage 66, fig. 61. The backrest  
will swing forward. Let the backrest latch into  
the lowest position.  
The rear of the vehicle will be automatically  
raised when you select another mode or start to  
drive.  
To fold the backrest back, pull the lever  
ðpage 66, fig. 61 again.  
Fold the backrest backward until it locks into  
place.  
Note  
Do not park the vehicle in a lowered loading  
level.  
Folding the center armrest  
Applies to: vehicles with folding center armrest  
Also refer to the information about ground  
clearance ðpage 117.  
Tips  
The vehicle will not lower when the ignition  
is turned off if the compressed air reservoir  
is empty. The button LED blinks three times.  
If the compressed air reservoir is empty, it is  
refilled while driving at speeds above  
25 mph (40 km/h).

Folding the outer backrests  
Applies to: vehicles with folding backrests  
Observe the safety precautions ðpage 85.  
Folding the center rear backrest forward and  
backward  
Press the release button 1 downward. The red  
marking will become visible. Fold the backrest  
forward.  
Fold the backrest back up again until it latches  
securely and the red marking is no longer visi-  
ble.

Depending on the vehicle equipment, it may be  
possible to fold the backrests forward separately  
or together.  
Observe the safety precautions ðpage 85.

Storage and convenience  
1)  
If needed, install the luggage compartment  
cover again.  
Partition net  
Applies to: vehicles with partition net  
Removing the partition net  
Remove the luggage compartment cover, if  
necessary ðpage 86.  
To release the partition net, loosen the strap  
3 .  
Remove the partition net from the mounting  
eyelets in reverse order.  
Tips

You must disengage the partition net before  
folding the backrest back into the upright po-  
sition.  
Tie-downs

The partition net prevents objects from sliding  
from the luggage compartment into the passen-  
ger compartment. You can attach the partition  
net behind the front or rear seats. Use the  
mounting eyelets 1 or 2 for this.

Tie-downs  
Installing the partition net  
There are tie-downs 1 in the luggage compart-  
ment to secure pieces of luggage and objects.  
To engage the partition net into the mounting  
eyelets 1 , fold the backrest forward  
ðpage 87.  
Use the tie-downs to secure the cargo.  
To engage the partition net into the mounting  
eyelets 2 , remove the luggage compartment  
cover ðpage 86.  
Secure the partition net to the top mounting  
eyelets first and then to the bottom eyelets.  
When engaging, make sure that the safety  
belts 3 face toward the rear.  
Tighten and secure the straps 3 .  
Slide the lower section of the partition net  
to the desired level.
