Safety -> Active Safety Systems for Your Fiat 600 SUV Second Generation (2023-2026)

As soon as the vehicle starts to swerve
(understeer / oversteer), engine output
is reduced and the wheels are braked
individually.
ACTIVE SAFETY
SISTEMS
ABS SYSTEM (Antilock
Brake System)
Dynamic Stabilty Control operates in
combination with the Traction Control
system. It prevents the driven wheels
from spinning.

Antilock brake system (ABS) prevents
the wheels from locking.
Fault
ABS starts to regulate brake pressure
as soon as a wheel shows a tendency
to lock. The vehicle remains steerable,
even during hard braking.
The Traction Control system is a
component of the Dynamic Stabilty
Control.
88)
Have the cause of the fault remedied
by a Fiat Dealership.
The Traction Control system improves
driving stability when necessary,
regardless of the type of road surface
or tyre grip, by preventing the driven
wheels from spinning.
BRAKE ASSIST
ABS control is made apparent through
a pulse in the brake pedal and the
noise of the regulation process.
For optimum braking, keep the brake
pedal fully depressed throughout the
braking process, despite the fact that
the pedal is pulsating.Do not reduce
the pressure on the pedal.
If brake pedal is depressed quickly
and forcefully, maximum brake force
is automatically applied. Operation of
brake assist might become apparent
by a pulse in the brake pedal and a
greater resistance when depressing the
brake pedal. Maintain steady pressure
on the brake pedal as long as full
braking is required. Maximum brake
force is automatically reduced when
brake pedal is released.
As soon as the driven wheels starts
to spin, engine output is reduced and
the wheel spinning the most is braked
individually. This considerably improves
the driving stability of the vehicle on
slippery road surfaces.
When braking in an emergency, the
hazard warning flashers are switched
on automatically depending on
the force of deceleration. They are
switched off automatically the first time
you accelerate.
Dynamic Stabilty Control and the
Traction Control system are operational
after each engine start as soon as the
DSC (Dynamic Stabilty
Control) SYSTEM AND
TC (Traction Control
System)
control indicator
extinguishes
After starting off, the system performs a
self-test which may be audible.
When Dynamic Stabilty Control or the
Traction Control system operates,
flashes.

On some occasions, e.g. after
disconnecting the conventional battery,
the control indicator may illuminate
during some seconds accompanied

by a message in the instrument panel
display. This may be caused by the
reset of the steering angle sensor.
NOTE The Hill Start Assist function
cannot be deactivated. However, using
the parking brake to immobilise the
vehicle interrupts its operation.
Deactivation
Operation
The Traction Control system can be
deactivated in the instrument panel
display.
Deactivation is confirmed by a
message in the instrument panel
display.

HSA (Hill Start Assist)
SYSTEM
(Where provided)
Electric Drive Unit/ Automatic gearbox.
This system keeps the vehicle briefly
stationary (for approximately 2
seconds) when making a hill start, while
you transfer your foot from the brake
pedal to the accelerator pedal.
The system is only active when:
the vehicle is completely stationary,
with your foot on the brake pedal
certain slope conditions are met
the driver’s door is closed
89)
IMPORTANT
81) If the ABS intervenes, this indicates
that the grip of the tyres on the road is
nearing its limit: you must slow down to a
speed compatible with the available grip.
82) To achieve maximum efficiency of
the braking system, a settlement period
of some hundred kilometers is required.
During this time, avoid sudden, repeated
and prolonged braking.
