Instruments  
The odometer registers the total  
Brake system warning lamp  
WARNING  
If it illuminates when driving,  
have the braking system  
checked by an expert immediately.

To toggle between the odometer  
and tripmeter display, briefly press  
the toggle/reset button E  
Have this checked by an expert.  
Normal braking (without ABS) will be  
maintained.

The following warning and indicator  
lamps illuminate when the ignition is  
switched on to confirm that the  
system is operational:  
WARNING  
Reduce vehicle speed gradually.  
Use the brake with great care.  
Do not step on the brake pedal  
abruptly.  
Airbag  
Oil pressure  
ABS  
Engine  
Brake system  
Ignition  
If both warning lamps illuminate at the  
same time, stop the vehicle as soon  
as it is safe to do so. Have the  
braking system checked by an  
expert before continuing your  
journey.  
If a warning or indicator lamp does  
not illuminate when the ignition is  
switched on, it indicates a  
malfunction. Have the system  
checked by an expert.  
Airbag warning lamp

Failure of airbag warning  
lamp  
Oil pressure warning lamp  
If the lamp stays on after  
starting or illuminates during  
a journey, stop immediately,  
switch off the engine and check the  
engine oil level. See Engine oil check  
(page 86). Top up straight away if  
the level is low.

Ignition warning lamp  
If it illuminates whilst driving,  
switch off all unnecessary  
electrical equipment and  
drive immediately to the nearest  
expert.  
Low fuel level warning lamp  
When the warning lamp  
illuminates, refuel as soon as  
possible.  
Engine warning lamp  
The engine warning lamp  
should extinguish as soon  
Direction indicator lamp  
Flashes during operation. A  
sudden increase in the rate  
of flashing warns of a failed  
as the engine starts. If it  
illuminates with the engine running, it  
indicates a malfunction. Have this  
checked by an expert as soon as  
possible. If it flashes, when driving,  
reduce the vehicle speed  
immediately. If it continues to flash,  
avoid heavy acceleration or  
indicator bulb. If your vehicle has  
been equipped with factory fitted  
towing equipment, the control lamp  
also warns of failure of the indicator  
bulbs on the trailer.

Main beam indicator lamp  
Illuminates when the  
headlamps are on main  
beam or when the

engine is overheating. Stop  
immediately and switch off  
the ignition.  
AUDIBLE WARNINGS  
AND INDICATORS  
On some model variants an audible  
signal will be heard if the drivers door  
is opened with the exterior lamps  
switched on.
