There is a range of engines available for Defender: two 4-cylinder
diesels, a D200 or D240. And two petrols, a 4-cylinder P300 or
6-cylinder P400. Each has been optimised for specific attributes
to cater for all needs.
Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology will be fitted
to the P400 engine. It harvests and stores energy normally lost
during vehicle deceleration and intelligently redeploys it to
increase the engine’s efficiency. This system helps improve fuel
economy and boosts the vehicle’s performance.

48V ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGER
Diesel engines offer better fuel economy over greater distances
and produce higher levels of torque at lower engine speeds.
This makes them the ideal choice for longer journeys, motorway
cruising, towing or off-roading.
Defender’s petrol engines are even more powerful, which
can provide a more engaging and direct driving experience.
They are even more refined and are better suited to shorter,
stop-start journeys.
