Vehicles with an automatic transmission must  
not be tow-started.  
If the newly inserted fuse also blows, have the  
cause traced and rectiꢀed at a qualiꢀed specialist  
workshop.  
#
Only use fuses that have been approved  
by Mercedes-Benz and which have the  
correct fuse rating.  
Ensure the following before replacing a fuse:  
Electrical fuses  
Blown fuses must be replaced with fuses of the  
same rating, which you can recognize by the color  
and the label. The fuse ratings and further infor-  
mation to be observed can be found in the fuse  
assignment diagram.

The vehicle is secured against rolling away.  
Notes on electrical fuses

All electrical consumers are switched oꢁ.

WARNING Risk of accident and injury due  
to overloaded lines  
The vehicle is switched oꢁ.  
The electrical fuses are located in various fuse  
boxes:  
Fuse assignment diagram: on the fuse box in the  
engine compartment (/ page 289).  
If you manipulate or bridge a faulty fuse or if  
you replace it with a fuse with a higher amper-  
age, the electric line could be overloaded.

Fuse box in the engine compartment on the  
leꢂ-hand side of the vehicle, when viewed in

NOTE Damage or malfunctions caused by  
moisture  
This could result in a ꢀre.

the direction of travel (/ page 289)  
Always replace faulty fuses with speci-  
ꢀed new fuses containing the correct  
amperage.

Fuse box in the front passenger footwell

Moisture may cause damage to the electrical  
system or cause it to malfunction.

Fuse box in the center of the trunk  
(/ page 291)

When the fuse box is open, make sure  
that no moisture can enter the fuse box.

NOTE Damage due to incorrect fuses

When closing the fuse box, make sure  
that the seal of the lid is positioned cor-  
rectly on the fuse box.  
Electrical components or systems may be  
damaged by incorrect fuses, or their function-  
ality may be signiꢀcantly impaired.  
Opening and closing thee fuse box in the engine  
compartment  
Requirements:

A dry cloth and a screwdriver are available.

Observe the notes on electrical fuses  
(/ page 289).

Check whether the seal is positioned correctly  
in the lid.

Place the lid on the fuse box.  
Make sure that clamps 2 engage.  
Tighten screws 1.  
&
WARNING Risk of injury from using the  
windshield wipers when the hood is open  
If the windshield wipers start moving when the  
hood is open, you could be trapped by the  
wiper linkage.  
Close the hood.  
Opening and closing the fuse box in thhe front  
passenger foootwell

Always switch oꢁ the windshield wipers  
and vehicle before opening the hood.  
Observe the notes on electrical fuses  
(/ page 289).

Open the hood.  
#
Remove any existing moisture from the fuse  
box using a dry cloth.  
#
#
Loosen screws 1.  
Press clamps 2 and liꢂ the fuse box lid up  
and out.  
The fuse assignment diagram is in a recess on the  
side of the fuse box.

Opening  
Opening and closing the fuse box in thhe trunk  
Observe the notes on electrical fuses  
(/ page 289).

Open the trunk ꢃoor .  
#
Liꢂ carpet 1 in the direction of the arrow.  
Fuse box 1 is located in the center underneath  
the trunk ꢃoor.  
#
Loosen screws 2 and remove the fuse box  
lid from the top.  
Closing  
#
Place the lid on the fuse box.  
#
#
Tighten screws 2.  
Fold back the carpet.
