A
In order for the air conditioning system, monitor-  
ing of the pollution level and air ꢀltration to func-  
tion correctly, an interior air ꢀlter must always be  
used. Make sure that the ꢀlter is installed cor-  
rectly. Use ꢀlters recommended and approved by  
Mercedes-Benz. Always have maintenance work  
carried out at a qualiꢀed specialist workshop.  
Operating the climate control system  
Switchiing climate controol on/oꢂ

To switch on: set the airꢁow to level 1 or  
higher using the H button.  
To switch oꢂ: set the airꢁow to level 0 using  
Control panel for 3-zone automatic climate control

Setting climate control to automatic mode  
Several air distributions can be selected at  
the same time, e.g. to air-condition both the  
windshield and the footwell.  
The ¯ climate control for the windshield  
can only be selected for the ꢀrst seat row.  
In automatic mode, the set temperature is con-  
trolled and maintained at a constant level by the  
air supply.  
Condensation may drip from the underside of the  
vehicle when cooling mode is active. This is not  
indicative of a malfunction.

To switch to manual mode: press the _ or  
à button.

In automatic mode, you can choose between ꢀve  
diꢂerent air quantities using the H button.  
Automatic mode is retained.  
Climate control can be set centrally using the syn-  
chronization function. The temperature and air  
distribution settings for the driver's side will be  
adopted automatically for the front passenger  
side.

Select one of the temperature displays at the  
lower edge of the media display.

Press the 0 button.

The synchronization function will be deactivated if  
the settings for one of the other climate zones are  
changed.

Air-recirculation mode automatically switches to  
fresh air mode aꢃer a while.  
Climate control can be set centrally using the syn-  
chronization function. The driver's settings for  
temperature, air quantity and air distribution are  
adopted automatically for all climate zones.  
Very hot or very cold air can ꢁow from the air  
vents.

If air-recirculation mode is switched on, the  
windows may fog up more quickly. Switch on  
air-recirculation mode only brieꢁy.

Make sure that all vehicle occupants  
always maintain a suꢄcient distance  
from the air vents.  
#
Select SYNC and switch on or oꢂ.  
Switching the residual heat on/oꢂ (Caanada)  
Requirements:

The vehicle is parked.

If necessary, direct the airꢁow to another  
area of the vehicle interior.  
Removing condensation from the windows  
Windows fogged up on the inside  
To guarantee the ꢁow of fresh air through the air  
vents into the vehicle interior, comply with the fol-  
lowing:

Press the à button.

Only vehicles with a diesel engine can use  
residual heat.  
#
If the windows continue to fog up: press the  
¬ button.  
It is possible to make use of the residual heat  
from the engine to continue heating or ventilating  
the front compartment of the vehicle for approx-  
imately 30 minutes, depending on the tempera-  
ture set.

Always keep the vents and ventilation grilles in  
the vehicle interior clear.  
Windows fogged up on the outside

Keep the air inlet free of residue build-up

Switch on the windshield wipers.

Press the Ã button.

To activate: press the Á button.  
Residual heat will be switched oꢂ automatically.

To open or close: hold air vent 1 in the cen-  
ter and turn it to the leꢃ (open) or right  
(closed) as far as it will go.

To open or close: hold air vent 1 in the cen-  
ter and turn it to the leꢃ or right as far as it  
will go.  
To set the airꢁow direction: hold air vent 1 in  
the center and move it up or down or to the  
leꢃ or right.
