There is interference from a powerful radio  
signal source  
Insert the new battery into battery compart‐  
ment 3. Observe the positive pole marking  
in the battery compartment and on the bat‐  
tery when doing this.

Notes on the additional door lock  
The key function is impaired by, for example:

vehicles for the United Kingdom.

Re-attach cover 1 and push it until it

matic barriers  
Problems with the key  
If the additional door lock is activated, the  
doors can no longer be opened from the  
inside.  
You can no longer lock or unlock the vehicle

Make sure that there is a sufficient distance  
Possible causes:  
R
between the key and the potential source of  
interference.  
#
Never leave persons, in particular chil‐  
dren, unattended in the vehicle.  
The key battery is weak or discharged.  
The key is faulty.  
R
You have lost a key  
#
If there are persons in the vehicle, do  
not activate the additional door lock.  
#
Have the key deactivated at a qualified spe‐  
cialist workshop.  
#
Check the battery using the indicator lamp  
(/ page 70).  
Replace the key battery, if necessary  
(/ page 72).  
Use the emergency key to lock or unlock  
(/ page 71).  
Have the key checked at a qualified specialist  
workshop.  
The additional door lock is automatically activa‐  
ted in the following situations:

If necessary, have the mechanical lock  
replaced as well.

The vehicle is locked using the key.  
R
The vehicle is locked using KEYLESS-GO.

Centrally locking and unlocking the vehicle  
from the inside  
If the vehicle has been locked via Mercedes me  
connect, the additional door lock is not activa‐  
ted.  
If the additional door lock is activated, the doors  
cannot be opened from the inside.  
% After locking you can issue a signal with the  
horn.  
You can prevent the additional door lock from  
being activated by deactivating interior protec‐  
tion before locking the vehicle (/ page 94).  
Unlocking/opening the doors from the inside  
#
United Kingdom only: observe the notes on  
the additional door lock (/ page 73).

Pull door handle 2.  
Locking pin 1 pops up when the door is  
unlocked.  
#
To unlock: press button 1.  
#
To lock: press button 2.  
This does not lock or unlock the fuel filler flap.  
The vehicle is not unlocked:

If you have locked the vehicle using the key.

LESS-GO  
If you have locked the vehicle using KEY‐  
LESS-GO.  
Requirements:  
Locking/unlocking the vehicle with a Digital  
Vehicle Key sticker  
R
The key is outside the vehicle.  
R
The distance between the key and the vehicle  
does not exceed 1 m.  
Requirements:  
R
the vehicle is equipped with the "Digital Vehi‐  
cle Key" function  
R
The driver's door and the door at which the  
door handle is used are closed.  
R
a Digital Vehicle Key sticker is present  
% Affix the Digital Vehicle Key sticker to your  
smartphone; see the Supplement.  
% Mercedes-Benz recommends that you carry  
the emergency key in case of function  
restrictions.  
If the vehicle has been parked for longer than  
two weeks, the NFC antenna in the door handle  
is deactivated.  
#
Touch the door handle on the driver's door in  
the area where NFC antenna 1 is located  
with the part of the Digital Vehicle Key  
sticker where the NFC transmitter is located.  
The vehicle is locked or unlocked alternately.  
#
Pull the door handle.  
The NFC antenna is activated.

Activating/deactivating the automatic lock‐  
ing feature  
To unlock the vehicle: touch the inner sur‐  
face of the door handle.  
To lock the vehicle: touch sensor surface  
1 or 2.  
Check the battery using the indicator lamp  
(/ page 70).

Replace the key battery, if necessary  
(/ page 72).  
Use the emergency key to lock or unlock  
(/ page 77).  
Have the vehicle and key checked at a quali‐  
fied specialist workshop.  
The vehicle is locked automatically when the  
ignition is switched on and the wheels are turn‐  
ing faster than walking pace.

Convenience closing: touch recessed sen‐  
sor surface 2 until the closing process has  
been completed.

If you open the boot lid from outside, the boot lid  
is automatically unlocked.

The KEYLESS-GO function is impaired by, for

To deactivate: press and hold button 1 for  
approximately five seconds until an acoustic  
signal sounds.  
In the following situations, there is a danger of  
being locked out when the function is activated:  
R
While the vehicle is being tow started/  
pushed.  
R
If the vehicle is being tested on a roller dyna‐  
mometer.  
Locking/unlocking the driver's door with the  
emergency key  
% If you wish to lock the vehicle entirely using  
the emergency key, first press the button for  
locking from the inside while the driver's  
door is open. Then proceed to lock the driv‐  
er's door using the emergency key.

Remove the emergency key (/ page 71).  
Insert the emergency key as far as it will go  
into opening 1 in the cover.  
To unlock: turn the emergency key anti-  
clockwise to position 1.  
To lock: turn the emergency key clockwise to  
position 1.  
Carefully press the cover onto the lock cylin‐  
der until it engages and is seated firmly.

Pull and hold the door handle.  
Pull the cover on the emergency key as  
straight as possible away from the vehicle  
until it releases.

Release the door handle.
