Maintenance and do-it-yourself -> Engine cooling system for Your Nissan Patrol SUV Fifth Generation (1998-2009)

ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM
The use of other types of engine coolant may
damage your cooling system.
The engine cooling system is filled at the factory
with a high-quality, year-round and extended life
engine coolant The high quality engine coolant
contains the specific solutions effective for the
anti-corrosion and the anti-freeze function.
Therefore, additional cooling system additives
are not necessary.

Never remove the radiator cap when the
engine is hot. Serious burns could be
caused by high pressure fluid escaping
from the radiator. Wait until the engine
and radiator cool down. See precau-
tions in "If your vehicle overheats"
found in the "6. In case of emergency"
section.

gine Coolant or equivalent in its quality.
Genuine NISSAN ꢀngine Coolant is pre-
mixed (mixture ratio 50%) type coolant.

If the cooling system frequently requires
coolant, have it checked by a NISSAN
dealer.
CHANGING ENGINE COOLANT
Major cooling system repairs should be per-
formed by a NISSAN dealer. The service
procedures can be found in the appropriate
NISSAN Service Manual.
Improper servicing can result in reduced
heater performance and engine overheating.

CHECKING ENGINE COOLANT
LEVEL
To avoid the danger of being scalded,
never change the coolant when the en- .
gine is hot.
Open the radiator cap.
With coolant reservoir
Check the coolant level in the reservoir tank
when the engine is cold. If the coolant level is
below MIN, add coolant to the MAX level. If the
reservoir tank is empty, checkthe coolant level in
the radiatorwhen the engine iscold. Ifthere is
insufficient coolant in the radiator, fill the radiator
(upper engine coolant reservoir on ZD30DDTi,
TD42Ti and TB48DE - Type B engines) with
NISSAN Genuine Engine Coolant or equivalent
up to the filler opening ahd also add it to the
reservoir tank up to the MAX level.
Never remove the radiator cap when the
engine is hot. Serious burns could be
caused by high pressure fluid escaping
from the radiator.
