The steering wheel must be

unlocked and the ignition key must

be in position “M” (ignition “on”) to

provide stop lights and direction

indicators on the towed car. The

towed vehicle lights must be

switched on at night.

Only use the front 1 and rear 3 or 4

towing points (never use the drive

shafts). These towing points may

only be used for traction: never use

them for lifting the vehicle directly

or indirectly.

Rear towing point 3

Hatchback version

Screw in the towing ring 2 (found in

the tools unit) as far as it will go.

Rear towing point 4

Saloon and estate versions

You must observe the towing

regulations which apply in the

country in which you are driving:

do not exceed the towing weight for

your vehicle. Consult your Renault

Dealer.

Front towing point 1

Screw in the towing ring 2 (found in

the tools unit) as far as it will go.

automatic transmission: special

transmission

lubricated. It is preferable to tow

this type of vehicle on a trailer or

tow it with the front wheels off the

ground.

Exceptional circumstances

You may tow the vehicle with all

four wheels on the ground using the

towing point under the following

conditions: Maximum speed 25

mph (40 km/h) for a maximum

distance of 30 miles (50 km).

The selector lever must be in

neutral (position N).

If the lever becomes jammed in P

position, even though you are

pressing down the brake pedal, the

lever can be released manually. To

do this, unclip cover B. Press on

both the raised part C and button A

at the same time to move the lever

from position P.
