Automatic switching on of the cooling system

The cooling system switches on automatically to

stop the windows from fogging up. The system

switches on in the following cases.

Annual disinfection of the air conditioning is rec-

ommended.

When the fan is on and the air distribution control-

ler is in the position.

Always keep the fan on.

In this case, the recirculation mode is switched oﬀ.

Recirculated air mode

The recirculation mode prevents contaminated out-

side air getting into the interior of the vehicle.

Keep the recirculation mode switched on for a

short time only.

Switching recirculation mode on brieﬂy can increase

the cooling eﬀect.

Circulating air mode may be switched on or oﬀ

automatically under certain circumstances.

Operating conditions for the cooling system

✓ The outside temperature is below 2 °C.

✓ The engine is running.

When the air conditioner is operating, the engine

idle speed may increase automatically.

✓ The blower is switched on.

Water under the vehicle

When the cooling system is switched on, water can

drip oﬀ the air conditioning system. This is not a leak.

Fogging

Increase the blower speed, switch on the cooling

system, and set the air distribution to the wind-

screen.

If the coolant temperature is too high, the cooling

system may switch oﬀ automatically. This ensures

Usage

According to the selected Climatronic mode:

The auxiliary heater heats the vehicle interior and the

engine.

Automatic mode - set operating performance

perature according to the temperature setting

for the driver's side

The auxiliary ventilation makes it possible to supply

fresh air to the vehicle interior when the engine is

switched oﬀ. As a result, the interior temperature is

lowered, e.g. when the vehicle is parked in the sun.

The Air Care function reduces the penetration

of pollutants into the vehicle interior. At the

same time, the air is both circulated and

Smoke in the engine compartment

In the engine compartment, smoke and odours may

form during the operation of the auxiliary heater.

This is not a defect.

Running the auxiliary heater after stopping the en-

gine

After switching oﬀ the system, the coolant pump

and the auxiliary heating will continue running a little

while longer in order to burn the remaining fuel in

the heating.
