Electric fuses

–

Defect fuses can be detected by their melted metal strips. Replace the

defect fuse by a new fuse of the same ampere number.

Replacing fuses

Fit on the fuse cover again.

Defect fuses must be replaced.

We recommend that you always have the small box of replacement fuses in your

vehicle. You can obtain replacement fuses from Škoda original accessories or from

Individual electrical circuits are protected by fuses. The fuses are located

on the left side of the dash panel behind the safety cover and under the

cover in the engine compartment on the left.

Switch the ignition off and also the electrical component affected.

Insert the wrench into the opening on the bottom side of the dash

panel⇒ fig. 232 and remove the side cover or the cover in the engine

compartment ⇒ page 253.

Caution

•

Never attempt to “repair” fuses and also do not replace them with a fuse of a

higher amperage - risk of fire! This may also cause damage at another part of the

electrical system.

Find out which fuse belongs to the relevant component ⇒ page 256,

“Fuse assignment in the dash panel”, ⇒ page 253, “Fuse assignment

in engine compartment - version 1” or ⇒ page 255, “Fuse assignment

in engine compartment - version 2”.

•

Have the electrical system checked as quickly as possible by a specialist garage

if a newly inserted fuse blows again after a short time.

Take the plastic clip out of its fixture in the fuse cover, insert it onto the

respective fuse and pull out this fuse.

The small box with replacement fuses is part of the basic equipping of the vehicle in some

countries.

Fuse cover in engine compartment

The fuse box in the engine compartment exists in two different

versions. You can determine which version your vehicle is fitted with

after removing the fuse cover at the location of the fuses.

When unlocking and locking the fuse cover, it must be pressed on the sides to

the box, otherwise damage can occur to the locking mechanism.

Carefully position the fuse cover in the engine compartment. If the cover was

not correctly positioned, water can get into the fuses and this results in a damage

to the vehicle!

Defect light bulbs should only be replaced with light bulbs of the same type. The

designation is located on the light socket or the glass bulb.

Parking lights

Changing certain bulbs is not something which you can do yourself, but requires to

be done by a specialist. Other parts of the vehicle must be removed in order to

change the light bulbs. This applies, in particular, to bulbs which can only be

reached from the engine compartment.

Bulbs H7 and H4 are pressurised and may burst when changing the bulb

- risk of injury!

It is recommended to wear gloves and eye protection when changing a

light bulb.

Gas discharge bulbs* (xenon bulbs) operate with a high voltage, profes-

sional knowledge is required - danger to life!

Caution

Do not take hold of the glass bulb with naked fingers (even the smallest amount of

dirt reduces the working life of the light bulb). Use a clean cloth, serviette or some-

thing similar.

Turn signal light at the front

You should have the light bulb of the front turn signal light replaced by a specialist

garage.

Note

This Owner's Manual only describes the replacement of bulbs where it is assumed

that no major complications will arise. Other light bulbs should be replaced by your

specialist garage.

Installation takes place in the reverse order.

Parking light at the front

Note

In order to facilitate the removal of the bulb for the parking light, we recommend to

remove first of all the bulb for the low beam light.

Turn the protective cap in direction of arrow OPEN ⇒ fig. 238 and

remove it.

Unplug plug A.

Switch the ignition and all lights off.

Press the wire clamps A down until they are released from the

secured position.

Turn the protective cap in direction of arrow OPEN ⇒ fig. 238 and

remove it.

Remove the light bulb A and insert the new light bulb in such a way

that the fixing lugs of the light bulb socket fit into the recesses at the

reflector.

–

Pull out the fixture in direction of arrow ⇒ fig. 239.

Take the faulty bulb out of the fixture and insert a new one.

Insert the protective cap.

Installation takes place in the reverse order.

You cannot replace the bulb for the daylight driving light.

Open the boot lid.

Daylight driving lights

Unscrew the light with the aid of the Torx wrench from the vehicle tool

kit. The shorter side of the wrench is used for loosening the screws and

the longer side for screwing them out completely ⇒ fig. 242.

You should have the bulb for the daylight driving light replaced by a specialist

garage.

–

Grasp the light at the top and bottom part and pull it slightly to the

rear.

Disconnect the plug connector ⇒ fig. 243.

Change the bulb, install again the fixture with the bulb in the housing

and turn it to the right up to the stop or insert it.

Changing light bulbs in the rear light unit

Insert the plastic lamp holder into the illumination unit until the inter-

locks are heard to engage and screw in the securing screw with the aid

of the Torx wrench ⇒ fig. 244.

–

Reconnect the plug connector and insert the bulb in the original posi-

tion.

Unscrew the securing screw with the aid of the Torx wrench and

slacken the interlocks in order to reach the bulbs ⇒ fig. 244.

Remove the plastic lamp holder.

Replace the defective light bulb.

In order to replace a bulb for the brake light, reversing light, rear fog or

turn signal light, turn the fixture of the bulb to the left up to the stop

and take the bulb out of the housing or pull the bulb for the parking

light out of the fixture ⇒ fig. 245.

Take the faulty bulb out of the holder and insert a new one.

Replace the the glass cover of the light and press it down to the stop -

ensure that the glass cover is correctly installed.

Screw the glass cover tight.
