6-8. When Trunk Lid Cannot be Opened
When Liftgate/Trunk Lid Cannot be Opened
If the vehicle battery is dead or there is a malfunction in the elec-
trical system and the liftgate/trunk lid cannot be opened, per-
form the following procedure as an emergency measure to open
it:
WARNING
Perform the procedure using a cloth to
cover sharp edges which could injure
your hands.

Perform the procedure carefully when using a flathead screwdriver as it
could cause damage to the surrounding area or vehicle parts.

Fold down the rear seatbacks.
Refer to Split Folding the Seatback on P. 26.

Pull the center section of the
plastic fastener and remove the
fasteners, then remove cover
on the interior surface of the lift-
gate.
