Air Conditioning System for Your Volkswagen Phaeton 4 Door First Generation (2002-2016)

Air Conditioning System
Four-Zone Clim atronic
As a luxury-class sedan, the Phaeton has
a standard four-zone air conditioning
system. Thanks to the four-zone
Climatronic, the driver and passengers
can enjoy their own desired air conditioning
settings independently of each other.
The temperature adjustment range
available is between 64°F and 82°F (18°C
and 28°C).
Climate Control Row
The air conditioning system is controlled
through the Infotainment system using
the climate control row and the “CLIMATE”
main-menu button on the Front Information
Display Control Head J523.

Air Conditioning System
Air Distribution in the Vehicle
The blower draws fresh air in through the
dust and pollen filter and routes it through
the evaporator.
The temperature of the air distributed to
the right and left sides of the vehicle is
largely determined by the temperature
settings for the two front seat zones.
The airflow in the air conditioner module is
separated behind the evaporator:
The subsequent division of the air behind
the heat exchangers to the individual air
outlets is effected by electro-mechanical
flaps on the air conditioner module and in
the instrument panel.
• Most of the air flows through the
heat exchangers.
• Some of the air bypasses the heat
exchangers and is fed directly to the air
flaps in the air conditioner module.
The air for the rear seat zones distributed to
the outlets at the B-pillars and the rear
footwells can be heated further by the
additional heating elements on each side.
The air conditioner module is designed with
two adjacent heat exchangers and
distributes air to the right and left sides for
the ventilation of the vehicle interior.
