Sign Display with sub-plate (illustration).
After validation and evaluation of the information from the camera, the Infotainment system and the current vehicle data, the Dynamic
Road Sign Display shows up to three valid road signs with the accompanying sub-plates, depending on the display location → Fig. 2,
→ Fig. 3, → Fig. 4:
1st position:
The road sign that currently applies to the driver is shown on the left-hand side of the display, e.g. a speed limit of 130 km/h
(80 mph).
2nd position:
A sub-plate sign can be shown in second position, e.g. 100 km/h (60 mph) “when wet”.
Sub-plate:
A detected sub-plate, e.g. with time restrictions, is displayed under the valid road sign. Depending on equipment, the valid road
sign is supplemented with the generic sub-plate in the head-up display.
3rd position:
A further road sign can be displayed in the third position, e.g. “overtaking not permitted at certain times”.
In addition to speed limits and overtaking restrictions, Dynamic Road Sign Display also detects the road sign which indicates that all
restrictions have been lifted on motorways and main roads in Germany. In all other countries in which the system is operated, the
current speed limit is displayed instead.
The road signs detected by Dynamic Road Sign Display are displayed on the instrument cluster display. Road signs may also be
displayed in the Infotainment system, depending on the system installed in the vehicle.
