Driving -> Manual gearbox for Your Volkswagen Saveiro VAN Third Generation (2009-2025)

WARNING
Unsupervised vehicle movements may cause
severe injuries.
Driving
Manual gearbox
When the engine is running and the selector
lever is in position D/S, D, S or R, it is neces-
sary to step on the brake to hold the vehicle
at stand still. Even when the engine is idling,
the vehicle will “creep forward/backward” as
the power transmission is not fully interrup-
ted.
Manual gearbox: select the gear
WARNING
When the engine is running, the vehicle will
start to move as soon as a gear is engaged and
the clutch released.
Never move the selector lever into P with the
vehicle in motion.
Never switch off the engine while the vehicle
is in motion.
Never leave the vehicle with the selector lev-
er in position N. The vehicle will roll downhill
regardless of whether or not the engine is
running.
Never select reverse gear while the vehicle is
in motion.
WARNING
NOTICE
Shifting gears incorrectly to a lower gear can
lead to a loss of control of the vehicle, which
can cause accidents and serious injuries.
When, with the vehicle stationary, the handbrake
is not engaged and the brake pedal is released
with the selector lever in position P, the vehicle
can still roll a few centimetres back and forth.
NOTICE
The clutch, gearbox and engine may be severely
damaged if the gear stick of the manual gearbox
is shifted to a gear which is too low when travel-
ling at high speeds or at high revs. This also ap-
plies if the clutch remains depressed and the
gears do not engage.
If while driving, the N position is accidental-
ly selected, let go off the accelerator. Await
the engine idle rotation in neutral position before
selecting a different gear.
