Engine oil -> Troubleshooting for Your Volkswagen Saveiro VAN Third Generation (2009-2025)

Removing the jump leads  
Engine oil  
Before disconnecting the jump leads, switch  
off the dipped beam headlights if they are  
switched on.  
Troubleshooting  
Turn on the ventilation and heating system fan  
or the air conditioning and the vehicle's rear  
window defogger with the vehicle's 12 V bat-  
tery discharged, to reduce voltage spikes when  
disconnecting the cables.  
Warning lamps and text messages may light up  
and be displayed on the instrument cluster dis-  
play. In addition, acoustic signals may be soun-  
ded.  
Disconnect the starting auxiliary cable with the  
engine running only in the sequence  
D – C – B – A Fig. 27.  
Engine oil pressure too low  
Stop driving!  
If applicable, close the battery cover.  
Switch off the engine.  
Go to a Volkswagen Dealership or a specialized  
company and have the vehicle's 12 V battery  
checked.  
Check the engine oil and refill if necessary.  
If the warning light remains lit and the oil level is  
suitable, do not drive on or keep the engine run-  
ning. The engine could otherwise be damaged.  
Seek out assistance from an authorised  
WARNING  
Always wear protective glasses and gloves  
and never lean over the 12 V vehicle battery.  
Volkswagen repairer immediately.  
Attach the connector cables in the correct  
order – the positive cable first, followed by  
the negative.  
Central warning lamp  
Never connect the negative cable to parts of  
the fuel system or to the brake hoses.

On: engine oil pressure too low.  
Stop driving! Switch off the engine. Check  
the engine oil and refill if necessary. If the  
warning light remains lit and the oil level is  
suitable, do not drive on or keep the en-  
gine running. The engine could otherwise  
be damaged. Seek out assistance from an  
authorised Volkswagen repairer immedi-  
ately.  
Non-insulated parts of the clamps on the  
poles must not come into contact with each  
other. Additionally, the jump lead attached  
to the positive terminal of the 12 V vehicle  
batteryl must not touch metal parts of the  
vehicle.  
Vehicles with a battery in the engine com-  
partment: check the vehicle's 12 V battery  
display, if necessary, use a flashlight. If the  
display is light yellow or colourless, do not  
jump start the vehicle. Seek expert assis-  
tance.  
Fill up with engine oil. Engine oil level too  
low. Switch off the engine. Check en-  
gine oil level.

Central warning lamp  
Avoid electrostatic discharges in the vicinity  
of the 12 V vehicle battery. The detonating  
gas escaping from the 12 V vehicle battery  
can ignite due to the formation of sparks.  
Check oil level. Engine oil level too low.  
Switch off the engine. Check engine oil  
level.  
On: Engine oil level very low. Switch off  
the engine. Check engine oil level.  
Flashing: engine oil system damaged.  
Seek out assistance from an authorised  
Volkswagen repairer immediately.

Never use jump starting to start the engine if  
the 12V vehicle battery is damaged, frozen  
or has defrosted.  
NOTICE  
After carrying out the starting assistance, imme-  
diately go to a Volkswagen Dealership or a speci-  
alized company and have the vehicle's 12 V bat-  
tery checked.
