WARNING
Improper use of the steering wheel position
adjustment and incorrect adjustment of the
steering wheel can result in serious or fatal
injuries.
● Never adjust the steering wheel while
driving. If you find that adjustment is
necessary while driving, stop the vehicle
using appropriate safety precautions and
then adjust the steering wheel correctly.
● In order not to restrict the protective
function of the driver's frontal air bag in
the event of an accident, the steering
wheel must always be directed towards the
thorax and never towards the face.

● To reduce the risk of injury in the event of
a triggering of the driver's front airbag,
always hold the steering wheel by its outer
sides with your hands in the 9 o'clock and 3
Adjust the steering wheel before setting off and

– Press the knob → fig. 89 in the corresponding
direction until the steering wheel is in the
desired position.
● Never hold the steering wheel in the 12
o'clock position or in any other way than
indicated, e.g. by the centre of the steering
wheel. If the driver's front airbag is
triggered, serious injury to the arms, hands
and head could occur.
– Adjust the handwheel so that you can hold it
with both hands on the outside of the
handwheel at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock

Electrical access aid
When the vehicle key is removed from the ignition
switch, the electrically adjustable steering wheel
automatically moves fully upwards.
When the ignition is switched off with the
Keyless Access keyless locking and start button
and the driver's door is then opened, the
electrically adjustable steering wheel also
automatically moves fully upwards.
When the ignition is switched on and the driver's
door is closed, the electrically adjustable steering
wheel moves to the position last stored in the
key used →

If the control → Fig. 89 is actuated when the
electrically adjustable steering wheel is moving
automatically to the position in question, the
steering wheel stops. This new position is then
stored.
The electrical access aid can be activated or
deactivated in the infotainment system.
