Removing and installing ambient tem‐  
perature sensor - G17-  
Note  
The ambient temperature sensor - G17- is used for determining  
the outside temperature and as a switch-on condition of the aux‐  
iliary/supplementary heater.  
– Removing and installing ambient temperature sensor - G17-  
⇒ Heating, air conditioning; Rep. gr. 87 ; Other control  
components .  
– Check ambient temperature sensor - G17- ⇒ Vehicle diag‐  
nostic tester in “Guided Fault Finding” mode.

Removing and installing remote control  
receiver for auxiliary coolant heater -  
R149-  
Special tools and workshop equipment required  
♦ Removal wedge - 3409-  
Note  
If the remote control receiver for auxiliary coolant heater - R149-  
is renewed, the remote control receiver for auxiliary coolant heat‐  
er - R149- must be adapted to the auxiliary heater using ⇒ Vehicle  
diagnostic tester in “Guided Fault Finding” mode.  
Removing  
– Remove cover in left footwell ⇒ General body repairs, interior;  
Rep. gr. 68 ; Interior equipment; Removing and installing foot‐  
well cover .

Auxiliary heater - Edition 04.2020  
– Disconnect electrical connectors -2-.  
– Release locking tab of bracket -3-.  
– Remove remote control receiver for auxiliary coolant heater -  
R149- -1- from bracket.  
Installing  
– Connect connectors to remote control receiver for auxiliary  
coolant heater - R149- .  
– Push remote control receiver for auxiliary coolant heater -  
R149- onto bracket, and engage it.  
Continue installation in reverse order of removal.  
Note  
If the remote control receiver for auxiliary coolant heater - R149-  
is renewed, the remote control receiver for auxiliary coolant heat‐  
er - R149- must be adapted to the auxiliary heater using ⇒ Vehicle  
diagnostic tester in “Guided Fault Finding” mode.  
Specified torque  
♦ Install cover in left footwell ⇒ General body repairs, interior;  
Rep. gr. 68 ; Interior equipment; Removing and installing foot‐  
well cover .
