Driver assistance  
appears likely that you will leave the lane, the  
system can warn you with corrective steering and  
a steering wheel vibration, if necessary.

General information  
Applies to: vehicles with Audi active lane assist  
The system functions at speeds above approxi-  
mately 40 mph (65 km/h).  
The Audi active lane assist/lane departure warn-  
ing (called only Audi active lane assist in the vehi-  
cle displays and in the information that follows in  
this Owner's Manual) can detect lane marker  
lines within the limitations of the system. If you  
are approaching a detected lane marker and it

Description  
Applies to: vehicles with Audi active lane assist  
Overview of displays and warnings  
The availability, readiness to provide warnings,  
and the warnings are indicated with indicator  
lights. Audi active lane assist is ready to provide  
warnings if an object is detected on at least one  
side of the lane where your vehicle is traveling.

If the system must intervene for a long period of  
time, a message will request you to drive in the

during a passing maneuver.  
The curve is too narrow.  
Visibility is obstructed by a rise or dip.  
The driver's hands are not on the steering  
wheel.  
The turn signal was activated.  
If the system is turned on but is not ready to pro-  
vide warnings, one of the following systems limi-  
tations or situations could be the cause:  
Steering intervention request  
If Audi active lane assist intervenes multiple  
times when no steering activity is detected, the  
steering intervention request will provide a warn-  
ing using audio and visual signals, such as .  
Actively take over steering immediately and keep  
your hands on the steering wheel so that you will  
be ready to steer at any time. The system may no

Turning on or off  
Applies to: vehicles with Audi active lane assist  
If you do not take over steering, Audi active lane  
assist will be turned off.  
Behavior when a turn signal is active  
Applies to: vehicles without side assist: The sys-  
tem will not warn you if you activate a turn signal  
before crossing the lane marker line. In this case,  
it assumes that you are changing lanes intention-  
ally.

Applies to: vehicles with side assist: If the turn  
signal is activated, Audi active lane assist is  
ready, and a lane change has been classified as  
critical by lane assist due to vehicles traveling be-  
side you or due to approaching vehicles, then a  
noticeable corrective steering movement will oc-  
cur briefly before exiting the lane. This will at-  
tempt to keep your vehicle in the lane.  
Press and hold the button 1 on the turn signal  
lever until the applicable indicator light in the  
instrument cluster turns off or on.

The system uses corrective steering to warn  
that the vehicle is leaving the lane. The driv-  
er is always responsible for keeping the ve-  
hicle in the lane.  
Adjusting Audi active lane assist  
Applies to: vehicles with Audi active lane assist  
You can adjust the Audi active lane assist/Lane  
departure warning to your preferences in the  
Driver assistance menu ðpage 130. The settings  
depend on the vehicle equipment.  
Corrective steering may not occur at all in  
certain situations, such as during heavy  
braking. Always be ready to intervene.  
Possible settings:  
Steering correction – In the Late setting, the  
steering correction will only occur shortly be-  
fore a wheel crosses a detected lane marker  
line. In the Early setting, steering correction oc-  
curs continuously in order to help keep the ve-  
hicle in the center of the lane. If the steering  
correction cannot be set, the steering correc-  
tion will function in the Late setting. You may  
also toggle between the settings by briefly  
pressing the 1 ðpage 155, fig. 122 button.  
Vibration warning – You can select if you would  
also like to be warned using a vibration in the  
steering wheel.  
Tips  
Always keep your hands on the steering  
wheel so you can be ready to steer at any  
time. The driver is always responsible for  
adhering to the regulations applicable in  
the country where the vehicle is being oper-  
ated.  
The system does not provide any corrective  
steering or steering wheel vibrations if it de-  
tects that you are passing another vehicle.  
The image in the Driver assistance display  
only appears if it was opened in the trip  
computer ðpage 20.

The swerve assist can help you to steer the ve-  
hicle around an obstacle during an evasive ma-  
neuver that is detected as critical.  
Tips  
Certain settings are automatically stored and  
assigned to the remote control key being  
used.  
The turn assist can detect vehicles in the oppo-  
site lane as critical during a turning maneuver  
and respond with braking maneuvers.

If

is displayed when there is a malfunc-  
tion, the active lane assist functions may be un-  
available or limited.  
Depending on the vehicle speed and the vehicle  
equipment, the following functions may be initi-  
ated in certain situations:  
A message that indicates the cause and possible  
solution may appear with some displays. The  
weather conditions may be too poor or the cam-  
era may be covered. Clean the area in front of the  
camera ðpage 129 and try to turn on the sys-  
tems again later.  
Visual and audio warnings  
Reversible tensioning of safety belts  
Closing the windows and panoramic glass roof  
Adjusting the seats  
Other preemptive safety measures by individual  
systems  
If the malfunction remains, drive to an author-  
ized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facili-  
ty immediately to have the malfunction correct-  
ed.

Audi pre sense  
Function overview  
Applies to: vehicles with Audi pre sense  
Tips  
Depending on the risk situation that is de-  
tected and the selected Audi drive select*  
mode, not all preemptive safety measures  
may be initiated under certain circumstan-  
ces. Certain functions may be modified or  
skipped if necessary.  
Within the limitations of the system, the Audi  
pre sense functions can initiate measures in cer-  
tain driving situations to protect the vehicle occu-  
pants and other road users. Depending on the ve-  
hicle equipment, various Audi pre sense systems  
may be installed:  
Audi pre sense may also be limited or un-  
available under certain circumstances, for  
example if:  
Audi pre sense basic can respond during emer-  
gency and dangerous braking maneuvers and  
unstable driving situations (such as oversteer-  
ing or understeering).  
If there are persons in the vehicle who are  
not using a safety belt  
After turning on the ignition, as long as  
the indicator light is on.  
Audi pre sense city and Audi pre sense front  
can detect an impending frontal impact and re-  
spond with warnings, braking interventions,  
and preemptive safety measures for the vehicle  
occupants.  
When driving in reverse  
The front passenger's airbag is turned off  
If there is an airbag control module mal-  
function  
Audi pre sense rear monitors the rear traffic  
behind your vehicle and can respond to an im-  
pending rear impact.  
System functions may not be available if  
the ESC is limited or turned off, or if there  
is a malfunction.
