Opening and closing  
Vehicles with button  
Message in the instrument cluster display  
Applies to: vehicles with power child safety locks  
The following messages may appear, depending  
on the vehicle equipment:  
To activate and deactivate the child safety lock  
(door handle and power window switch) for a  
rear door, press the left or right button in the  
driver's door 1 that corresponds to that rear  
door ðfig. 37. The LED in the button will turn  
on or off.  
/ Child safety lock: malfunction! Please  
contact Service  
There is a malfunction in the child safety lock.  
Press the / button again.  
Make sure the child safety lock is working by  
If the message stays on, drive immediately to an  
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service  
checking the function on the rear power win-  
dow switch and door handle.

Vehicles with button  
Applies to: vehicles with manual child safety locks  
WARNING  
Observe the safety precautions ðpage 35.  
A malfunction in the child safety lock could  
allow the rear doors to be opened from the  
inside, which increases the risk of an acci-  
dent.  
To activate or deactivate the child safety lock  
for the power window switch in the rear doors,  
press the button in the driver's door

To activate or deactivate the manual child safe-  
ty lock for the rear door handle, open the re-  
spective rear door and turn the key switch with  
the mechanical key in the direction of the arrow  
or opposite the direction of the arrow ðfig. 38.  
This will disable the function of the rear door  
handle.  
Power windows  
Opening and closing the windows  
Make sure the child safety lock is working by  
checking the function on the rear power win-  
dow switch and door handle.  
When the child safety lock is turned on, the fol-  
lowing functions are disabled:

Applies to: vehicles with power child safety locks:  
It is not possible to operate the rear climate con-  
trol system* when the child safety lock is activat-  
ed. The SET REAR function allows you to adjust  
all settings in the rear using the climate control  
system controls in the cockpit.  
Opening and closing the windows  
All power windows can be operated from the  
driver's seat. All power window switches are  
equipped with a two-stage function:  
To open or close the window completely, press  
the switch down or pull the switch up briefly to

switch is pressed or pulled again.

down function if it malfunctions.

cle. Always pay attention when using the

You can still open and close the windows for  
several minutes after turning the ignition  
off. The power window switch is not disa-  
bled until the driver's door or front passeng-  
er's door is opened.  
Applies to: vehicles with panoramic glass  
roof: If the sunshade is closed, it will auto-  
matically open when the roof is tilted.  
Panoramic glass roof  
The power windows are equipped with pinch  
protection. The automatic window may stop  
closing and will open all the way again even  
if no obstacle is detected. Pull the power  
window switch up until the window is com-  
pletely raised.  
Operating the panoramic glass roof and  
roof sunshade  
Applies to: vehicles with panoramic glass roof and roof sun-  
shade  
Convenience opening and closing  
Applies to: vehicles with convenience key  
Convenience opening and closing the  
windows and roof*  
You can set in the MMI if all windows and the  
roof* should open all at once ðpage 36, Setting  
the central locking system.

If the sunshade is closed, it will automatically  
open when the roof is tilted or opened.  
WARNING  
Observe the safety precautions ðpage 35.  
To reduce the risk of injury, always pay at-  
tention when closing the roof. Always turn  
off the ignition and take the key with you  
when leaving the vehicle.  
Operating the roof sunshade  
The roof sunshade cannot be closed completely if  
the roof is open.  
Opening and closing the sunshade: push the   
switch in the headliner 3 briefly toward the  
rear or forward to the second level.  
Note  
Always close the roof when you leave the vehi-  
cle and when there is precipitation to reduce  
the risk of damage to the interior equipment,  
particularly the electronic equipment.  
Partially opening the sunshade: press the   
switch to the first level until the sunshade  
reaches the desired position.  
Operating the roof

Tilting the roof: press the switch in the

Garage door opener  
Description  
Applies to: vehicles with garage door opener  
With the garage door opener, you can activate  
systems such as the garage doors, security sys-  
tems, or house lights from inside your vehicle.  
The functions are operated on the rearview mir-  
ror. Multiple receivers that can control the func-  
tions of up to three hand-held transmitters can  
be programmed. A menu guide will be shown in  
the MMI when operating the functions.  
Quick opening  
You can also open the roof and roof sunshade in  
one movement.  
Push the switch back briefly to the second  
level 2 twice in a row.  
If necessary, you can interrupt the quick opening  
or closing process by pressing the button again.  
WARNING  
When operating or programming the garage  
door opener, make sure that no people or  
objects are in the area immediately sur-  
rounding the equipment. People can be in-  
jured or property can be damaged if struck  
when closing.  
Roof emergency closing  
If an object is detected when closing, the roof will  
open again automatically. In this case, you can  
then close it with the power emergency closing  
function.  
Within five seconds after the sunroof opens au-  
tomatically, pull the applicable button until the  
roof is closed.  
Do not allow yourself to be distracted from  
traffic by viewing and operating the center  
display.
