▷ Back: press the button and push the head re‐

straint toward the rear.

▷ Forward: pull the head restraint toward the

front.

Thigh support

Forward/backward, height, seat tilt

Upper backrest

Adjusting the distance: power head

The head restraint is automatically repositioned

when the upper backrest is adjusted.

Backrest width

Fold the side extensions forward to increase lat‐

eral support.

Adjusting the exterior mirrors

1. Set the desired position.

Press button on the door. The writ‐

ing on the button lights up.

3. Press the desired button 1 or 2 at the door

while the writing is lit. A signal sounds.

Concept

The following settings can be stored and, if nec‐

essary, retrieved using the memory function:

Navigation destination entry

Entering a destination via quick

▷ Seat position.

▷ Exterior mirror position.

▷ Steering wheel position.

▷ Height of the Head-up Display.

Press the button on the Controller.

"Where to?"

3. Enter at least two letters or characters.

The search term may be completed automat‐

ically in gray print.

Confirm the control number on the device

and on the Control Display.

Press or move the controller up to apply the

suggested search term.

▷ Enter and confirm the same control num‐

ber on the device and via iDrive.

Select the symbol, if needed.

Results are displayed in a list.

The device is connected and displayed in the

device list.

5. "Search location": select search location.

6. Move the Controller to the right.

7. Select desired destination.

Using the phone

Accepting a call

Depending on the equipment, incoming calls can

be answered in several ways.

Connecting a mobile phone

General information

After the mobile phone is connected once to the

vehicle, the mobile phone can be operated using

iDrive, the steering wheel buttons, voice activa‐

tion, and gestures.

▷ Via iDrive:

"Accept"

▷

Press the button on the steering

wheel.

▷ Via the selection list in the instrument cluster:

Use the thumbwheel on the steering wheel to

select: "Accept"

Connecting the mobile phone via

Bluetooth

Connect entirely on the front or rear Control Dis‐

play.

▷ Via touch screen: tap on the corresponding

entry on the Control Display.

▷ Via gestures: point the index finger into the

direction of the Control Display.

Via iDrive:

1. "COM"

Via iDrive:

2. If necessary, select the following setting:

"Telephone"

3. "Connect new phone"

2. If necessary, "Telephone"

3. "Dial number"

4. To perform additional steps on the mobile

phone, refer to the mobile phone owner's

manual: e.g., search for or connect the Blue‐

tooth device or a new device.

4. Enter the numbers.

Select the symbol. The connection is es‐

tablished via the mobile phone to which this

function has been assigned.

The Bluetooth name of the vehicle appears

on the mobile phone display. Select the Blue‐

tooth name of the vehicle.

If connection is to be set up via the additional

phone:

5. Depending on the mobile device, a control

number is displayed or the control number

must be entered.

Press the button.

▷ Compare the control number displayed

on the Control Display with the control

number on the display of the device.

Apple CarPlay preparation

Concept

CarPlay allows certain functions of a compatible

Apple iPhone to be used via Siri voice operation

and iDrive.

Functional requirements

▷ Compatible iPhone.

iPhone 5 or later with iOS 7.1 or later.

▷ Corresponding mobile contract.

▷ Bluetooth, WiFi, and Siri voice operation are

activated on the iPhone.

Switching on Bluetooth and CarPlay

Via iDrive:

1. "COM"

2. "Mobile devices"

3. Move the Controller to the right.

4. "Settings"

5. Select the following setting:

"Apple CarPlay"

6. Activate the function.

Pairing the iPhone with CarPlay

Pair iPhone via Bluetooth with the vehicle.

Select CarPlay as the function:

"Apple CarPlay"

The iPhone is connected to the vehicle and dis‐

played in the device list.
