Climate control
CONTROLS

page 177.
Switching on/off directly
Concept
The stationary climate control can be switched
on with the BMW Connected app, refer to
page 178.
The system can be switched on or off directly.
The system switches off automatically after a
certain period of time.
The air automatically exits through the vents to
the windshield, the side windows, the upper
body region and into the floor area.
Via iDrive
The system switches off automatically after a
certain period of time.
The system can be switched on or off via iDrive.
1. "My Vehicle"
If stationary climate control is used during the
charging process, less air conditioning capacity
will be required while driving. This optimizes the
range.
2. "Vehicle settings"
3. If necessary, "Climate functions"
4. "Activate comfort climate"
5. "Activate now"
Functional requirements
▷ Drive-ready state is deactivated.
Climate control for departure time
Concept
▷ High-voltage battery sufficiently charged or
charging cable connected.
If the high-voltage battery is heavily dis‐
charged, it can take some time after connect‐
ing the charging cable, until the stationary cli‐
mate control will be functional.
Different departure times can be set to ensure a
comfortable interior temperature in the vehicle at
the time of departure.
The activation time is automatically determined
based on the temperature.
▷ Departure time preselected: dependent on
the internal, external, and set desired temper‐
ature.
The system promptly switches on before the se‐
lected departure time.
▷ Direct operation via iDrive: not dependent on
the outside temperature.
The departure time is preselected in two steps:
▷ Set departure times.
▷ To ensure the minimum range of the vehicle,
the stationary climate control may be auto‐
matically switched off, for instance after re‐
peated activation or due to an insufficient
state of charge of the high-voltage battery.
After the stationary climate control is
▷ Activate departure times.
A minimum of 10 minutes should pass between
setting/activating the departure time and the
planned departure time to allow a sufficient pe‐
riod of time for the climate control.
switched off due to an insufficient state of
charge, charge the high-voltage battery and
switch the drive-ready state on and off. The
stationary climate control is available again.
General information
If drive-ready state is switched off, changes can
be made on the Control Display. The departure
time change is a one-off change. Scheduled de‐
parture times are not adjusted. Settings for cli‐
mate control and charging process are also ap‐
plied for scheduled departure times.
▷ The vents are open to allow air to flow out.
