Child safety for Your Citroen C3 Picasso SUV First Generation (2008-2012)

Child safety
General points on child seats
Although one of CITROËN's main criteria when designing your vehicle, the safety of your children
also depends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow these
precautions:
CITROËN recommends that children
should travel in the rear seats of your
vehicle, with the rear seats in the fully
back position:
-
in accordance with European regulations,
all children under the age of 12 or less
than one and a half metres tall must
travel in approved child seats suited to
their weight, on seats fitted with a seat
belt or ISOFIX mountings*,
"rearwards-facing" up to the age of 2,
"forwards-facing" over the age of 2.
statistically, the safest seats in your
vehicle for the transportation of
children are the rear seats,
a child weighing less than 9 kg must
travel in the "rearwards-facing" position
both in the front and in the rear.

* The rules for carrying children are specific to
each country. Refer to the current legislation
in your country.

Intermediate longitudinal
position
When a "rearwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat, the
passenger airbag must be deactivated.
Otherwise, the child would risk being
seriously injured or killed if the airbag were
to inflate.
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is installed
on the front passenger seat, adjust the
vehicle's seat to the intermediate longitudinal
position with the seat back upright and leave
the passenger airbag activated.

Child safety
Refer to the advice given on the label present
on both sides of the passenger's sun visor.
Passenger airbag OFF
7
To assure the safety of your child, you must deactivate the passenger's front airbag when
you install a child seat in the rearwards facing position on the front passenger's seat.
Otherwise, there is a risk that the child could be seriously injured or killed if the airbag were
deployed.

Advice on child seats
The incorrect installation of a child seat in a
vehicle compromises the child's protection in
the event of an accident.
Remember to fasten the seat belts or the
child seat harnesses keeping the slack
relative to the child's body to a minimum,
even for short journeys.
When installing a child seat using the seat
belt, ensure that the seat belt is tightened
correctly on the child seat and that it secures
the child seat firmly on the seat of your
vehicle. If your passenger seat is adjustable,
move it forwards if necessary.
For optimum installation of the "forwards-
facing" child seat, ensure that the back of
the child seat is in contact with the back of
the vehicle's seat and that the head restraint
does not cause any discomfort.
Children under the age of 10 must not travel
in the "forwards-facing" position on the front
passenger seat, unless the rear seats are
already occupied by other children, cannot
be used or are absent.
Deactivate the passenger airbag when a
"rearwards-facing" child seat is installed on
the front seat.
As a safety precaution, do not leave:
-
a child or children alone and
unsupervised in a vehicle,
a child or an animal in a vehicle which
is exposed to the sun, with the windows
closed,
-
-
the keys within reach of children inside
the vehicle.
Otherwise, the child would risk being
seriously injured or killed if the airbag were
to inflate.
To prevent accidental opening of the doors
and rear windows, use the "Child lock".
Take care not to open the rear windows by
more than one third.
To protect young children from the rays of the
sun, fit side blinds on the rear windows.
Installing a booster seat
The chest part of the seat belt must be
positioned on the child's shoulder without
touching the neck.
Ensure that the lap part of the seat belt
passes correctly over the child's thighs.
CITROËN recommends the use of a booster
seat which has a back, fitted with a seat belt
guide at shoulder level.
If the head restraint has to be removed,
ensure that it is stored or attached securely
to prevent it from being thrown around the
vehicle in the event of sharp braking.

"ISOFIX" mountings
Your vehicle is approved to the ISOFIX
regulations
This ISOFIX mounting system provides reliable,
safe and fast fitting of the child seat in your
vehicle.
The seats represented below, are fitted with
regulation ISOFIX mountings.
ISOFIX child seats are fitted with two latches
which are secured easily on these rings A
Some also have a top tether belt which can be
attached to ring B.
To attach this belt, raise the head restraint
of the seat, then pass the buckle between
the rods. Then fix the buckle on ring B,
then tension the top tether belt.
7
-
a ring B, located in the roof, with the TOP
TETHER logo, for fixing the top tether belt.
If a child is not installed in a vehicle
correctly, the child's protection in the
event of a collision will be compromised.
To know which ISOFIX child seats can be
installed in your vehicle, see the table of
seating positions for ISOFIX child seats.
The rear seats must be in the fully back position
to install ISOFIX seats.
There are 3 rings for each seat:
-
2 rings A, located between the backrest
and the seat cushion, identified by a label,
