refitted.
The jack does not require any
maintenance.
F Unclip and take out the tool storage box.
F Loosen the central nut.
158
In the event of a breakdown
Ensure that the jack is stable. If the
ground is slippery or loose, the jack may
slip or collapse – Risk of injury!
Ensure that the jack is positioned strictly
at one of jacking points, A or B, under the
vehicle, making sure that the vehicle's
contact surface is centred on the head of
the jack. Otherwise, the vehicle could be
damaged and/or the jack could collapse –
Risk of injury!
Removing a wheel
Wheel with hub cap
When refitting the wheel, after tightening
the wheel bolts, refit the hub cap, starting
by placing its aperture in line with the
valve and then pushing it into place all
round its edge with the palm of your hand.
Parking the vehicle
Park the vehicle where it does not block
traffic: the ground must be level, stable
and non-slippery.
With a manual gearbox, engage first
gear then switch off the ignition to block
the wheels.
With an automatic gearbox, place the
gear selector at position P then switch off
the ignition to block the wheels.

Stowing the damaged wheel
The damaged wheel can be stowed under
the floor, in the standard spare wheel
housing.
To stow an alloy wheel, first remove the
trim from the middle of the wheel so that
the fastening device (nut and bolt) can be
put in place.
In the case of a "space-saver" type spare
wheel, the damaged wheel cannot be
stowed under the floor. It must be stowed
in the boot; use a cover to protect the
inside of the boot.
Fitting the "space-saver" spare wheel
If your vehicle is fitted with alloy wheels,
when tightening the bolts on fitting, it is
normal to notice that the washers do not
come into contact with the "space-saver"
spare wheel. The wheel is secured by the
conical contact of each bolt.
F Extend the jack 2 until its head comes
into contact with the jacking point A or B,
whichever is used; the contact area A or B
on the vehicle must be correctly inserted
into the central part of the head of the jack.
F Lift the vehicle until there is a sufficient
space between the wheel and the ground
to mount the spare (not punctured) wheel
easily.

if you use your vehicle mostly for short
journeys,
if the vehicle is to be taken off the road for
several weeks.
F Start the engine on the broken-down vehicle
and let it run.
If the engine does not start straight away,
switch off the ignition and wait a few moments
before trying again.
-
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.
F Wait until the engine returns to idle then
disconnect the jump lead cables in the
reverse order.
F Refit the plastic cover to the (+) terminal, if
your vehicle has one.
F Allow the engine to run for at least
30 minutes, by driving or with the vehicle
stationary, so that the battery reaches an
adequate state of charge.
If you plan to charge your vehicle's battery
yourself, use only a charger compatible
with lead-acid batteries with a nominal
voltage of 12 V.
F Switch off the charger B before connecting
the cables to the battery, so as to avoid any
dangerous sparks.
F Ensure that the charger cables are in good
condition.
F Raise the plastic cover, if your vehicle has
one, on the (+) terminal.
F Connect the charger B cables as follows:
Follow the instructions provided by the
manufacturer of the charger.
Never reverse polarities.
-
the positive (+) red cable to the (+)
terminal of the battery A,
-
the negative (-) black cable to the earth
point C on the vehicle.

In the event of a breakdown
Reconnecting the (+) terminal
Before disconnecting the battery:
F close all openings (doors, tailgate, windows,
sunroof),
F Once the battery is charged, switch off the
charger B before disconnecting the cables
from the battery A.
F switch off all electrical consumers (audio
system, wipers, lighting, etc.),
F switch off the ignition and wait for four
minutes.
At the battery, it is only necessary to
disconnect the (+) terminal.
If this label is present, it is essential to
use only a 12 V charger to avoid causing
irreversible damage to the electrical
components related to the Stop & Start
system.
Quick-release terminal clamp
F Raise the lever A fully.
F Refit the open clamp B on the (+) terminal.
F Push the clamp B fully down.
Disconnecting the (+) terminal
F Lower the lever A to lock the clamp B.
Never try to charge a frozen battery – risk
of explosion!
If the battery has frozen, have it checked
by a CITROËN dealer or by a qualified
workshop who will check that the internal
components have not been damaged and
that the container has not cracked, which
would mean a risk of toxic and corrosive
acid leaking.
Do not force the lever as locking will not
be possible if the clamp is not positioned
correctly; start the procedure again.
After reconnecting the battery
F Raise the lever A fully to release the clamp B.
F Remove the clamp B by lifting it off.
After reconnecting the battery, turn on the
ignition and wait 1 minute before starting
the engine, in order to enable the electronic
systems to initialise.
Disconnecting the battery
8
In order to maintain an adequate state
of charge for starting the engine, it is
recommended that the battery be disconnected
if the vehicle is taken out of service for a long
period.
If minor problems nevertheless persist
following this operation, contact a CITROËN
dealer or a qualified workshop.
