All vehicle seats are equipped with seat  
belts with three anchor points and a  
retractor. The retractor mechanism  
operates locking the belt in the event of  
sharp braking or strong deceleration  
due to an impact.

The seat belt should be worn keeping  
the chest straight and rested against  
the backrest.  
The rear seat is fitted with inertia seat  
belts with three anchor points and a  
retractor. After sitting down, wear  
the rear seat belts as shown in fig. 48  
(4-seater versions) / fig. 49 (5-seater  
versions).  
USING THE SEAT BELTS  
To fasten the seat belts, hold tongue A  
fig. 47 and insert it into buckle B, until  
it clicks into place. On removal, if the  
belt jams, let it rewind for a short  
stretch, then pull it out again without  
jerking.

IMPORTANT When putting the back  
seat to its normal position, make sure  
the seat belts are positioned so they are  
ready to use.

71) Make sure the backrest is properly  
secured at both sides to prevent it moving  
forward and causing injuries to passengers  
in the event of sharp braking.

72) The backrest is correctly secured when  
the red band next to the handles  
disappears. The “red band” indicates that  
the backrest is not secured. When  
returning the backrest to its normal  
position, make sure that it is correctly  
fastened and that you hear it click into  
place.  
It includes a device with an acoustic  
warning which, along with the  
warning light flashing in the  
instrument panel, warns the driver and  
passenger that they have not fastened  
their seat belts.

Contact a Fiat Dealership to deactivate  
this acoustic warning permanently.  
With a digital display, the SBR system  
can be reactivated only at a Fiat  
Dealership. With multifunction display,  
the SBR system can also be  
reactivated through the display Setup  
Menu.

accident, the rear seat passengers not  
wearing seat belts are exposed to a very  
serious risk and also represent a serious
