If children are left unsupervised in the vehi‐  
cle, they could, in particular:

Only shift into reverse gear k when  
the vehicle is stationary.

open doors, thereby endangering other  
persons or road users.  
NOTE Damage to the engine and trans‐  
mission by shifting to a gear that is too  
low

get out and be struck by oncoming traf‐  
fic.

If you shift between gears 5 and 6,  
you have to push the gearshift lever all  
the way to the right, otherwise you  
could inadvertently shift to a lower  
gear.

operate vehicle equipment and become  
trapped, for example.
