Fuel System for Your Mg HS SUV Second Generation (2024-2026)

PREPARATIONS FOR TRIP  
Fuel System  
You may hear a knocking noise from the engine if the wrong  
fuel is used. Please use the gasoline of the recommended  
grade as soon as possible. If a serious knocking noise can  
still be heard after the gasoline of the recommended grade  
is used, please go to an MG Authorised Repairer for service  
urgently.  
Fuel Requirements  
Only automotive fuel that meets national  
standards and is of a grade recommended  
by the OEM is permitted! Using other  
grades of fuel may damage your vehicle's  
fuel system, engine-related components  
and exhaust system.  
Please carry out refuelling according to the information on  
the refuelling label. Refer to 'Main Engine Parameters' in  
the 'Technical Data' chapter for details.  
E5: Unleaded petrol fuel containing a maximum 2.7% (m/m)  
of oxygen and a maximum 5% (v/v) of ethanol.  
E10: Unleaded petrol fuel containing a maximum 3.7%  
(m/m) of oxygen and a maximum 10% (v/v) of ethanol.

Fuel Filler Flap - Fuel Vehicles/HEV Vehicles  
Fuel Filler Flap - PHEV Vehicles  
The fuel filler flap is located at the rear right of the vehicle.  
Its lock is connected with central control door lock system.  
Press the left side of the flap to open it when the door is  
unlocked.  
The fuel filler flap is located on the right rear side of the  
vehicle. This vehicle model uses a high-pressure fuel tank  
system and the pressure inside the fuel tank will be higher  
than atmospheric pressure; before opening the fuel filler

flap, please press and hold the fuel filler flap release switch  
for (Located on the lower right side of the driver side  
instrument panel) for about 2 seconds and then release, the  
system will begin relieving the pressure within the system.  
When the instrument pack displays 'Please wait to refuel...'  
. Once the refuelling preparations have been completed,  
the instrument pack will display 'Please refuel'. An audible  
click can then be heard and the fuel filler flap can be opened.  
Please ensure that the vehicle is in Park (P  
gear) before refueling. When the vehicle  
is not in Park, pressing and releasing the  
fuel filler flap release switch will prompt the  
following message: 'Please Shift to P Gear  
Before Refueling'.  
When the vehicle is in Park (P gear) and  
with the power system on, pressing and  
releasing the fuel filler flap release switch  
will automatically shut down the vehicle.  
If the power system is not turned off, the  
instrument panel will prompt the following  
message: 'Please Turn off before Refueling'.  
At this time, the driver will need to turn off  
the vehicle before refueling.  
In the rare circumstance, where the fuel filler flap may  
fail to open or it has been over 30 seconds after the fuel  
filler flap release switch has been pressed for the first  
time, please press the switch a second time in order to  
completely relieve the pressure in the system. When the  
fuel flap opens, please unscrew the fuel filler cap slowly  
before refueling. In such a case, the fuel gun may need to  
be shut off in advance. Please contact an MG Authorised  
Repairer for service as soon as possible.  
Once the vehicle has been refueled, please close the fuel  
filler flap in time and the system will automatically lock the  
flap once it's closed; the corresponding prompt will also be  
displayed on the instrument pack.  
When the instrument pack displays 'Refueling System  
Failure', it indicates that a fault has been detected within  
the fueling system. In this case, please contact an MG  
Authorised Repairer for service as soon as possible.

If the lamp remains on, please contact an MG Authorised  
Repairer for service as soon as possible.  
When the instrument panel displays 'Fuel  
Filler Flap Open', stop the vehicle as soon as  
safety permits and then close the fuel filler  
flap.  
Refuelling  
Vehicle fuel is highly flammable and  
in confined spaces can be extremely  
explosive.  
If the fuel filler flap has not been closed,  
the release switch will still need to be  
pressed before refueling. The fuel filler  
flap can only be opened after the refueling  
preparations have been completed by the  
integrated systems, otherwise harm or  
personal injury may occur.

Always take care when refuelling:  
Stop the power system;  
Do not smoke or use a naked flame;  
Do not use a mobile phone;  
Prevent fuel spillage;  
Note: Do not forcefully open the fuel filler door when  
it is not unlocked.  
Do not overfill the tank.  
Fuel Filler Cap  
Do not fully refuel the tank if the vehicle is to be parked in  
direct sunlight or high ambient temperature - expansion of  
the fuel could cause a spillage.  
Slowly rotate the fuel filler cap counterclockwise to release  
the pressure inside the tank before opening it.  
After refuelling, if the engine runs unevenly, shut down  
the engine and seek an MG Authorised Repairer before  
attempting to restart the engine.  
After refuelling, replace the fuel filler cap and tighten it till  
you hear a 'click'.  
If the fuel filler cap is not tightened, the engine emission  
malfunction indicator lamp on the instrument pack may  
illuminate. Please tighten the fuel filler cap in this case.

IMPORTANT  
When performing refilling operations, prevent oil from  
splashing on the paint or adjacent appearance part  
surfaces, otherwise damage may be caused to the paint  
or part surfaces.
