FUEL INFORMATION
Models with three-way catalyst
CAUTION:
under the following precautions:
.
Have the fuel tank filled only partially with
unleaded regular gasoline, and fill up with
unleaded premium gasoline as soon as possible.
.
Avoid full throttle driving and abrupt acceleration.
Do not use leaded gasoline. Using leaded gaso-
line will damage the three-way catalyst.
Use unleaded premium gasoline for maximum
vehicle performance.
MR16DDT engine model:
For Thailand: Use UNLEADED PREMIUM gasoline or
gasohol (up to E20*) with an octane rating of at least
95 (RON).
Except for Korea and Mexico: Use UNLEADED
PREMIUM gasoline with an octane rating of at least
95 (RON).
If unleaded premium gasoline is not used, UNLEADED
REGULAR gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91
(RON) may be used at slightly reduced performance.
However, for maximum vehicle performance and the
best driveability, the use of unleaded premium gasoline
is recommended.
For Korea: Use UNLEADED PREMIUM gasoline with
an octane rating of at least 98 (RON).
*: Gasohol is alcohol blended gasoline. For example,
“E20” is a mixture of approximately 20% fuel ethanol
and 80% unleaded gasoline.
For Mexico: Use UNLEADED PREMIUM gasoline with
an octane rating of at least 91 AKI (Anti-Knock Index)
number.

AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM REFRIGER-
ANT AND LUBRICANT
The air conditioner system of your vehicle must be
charged with the refrigerant HFC-134a (R134a) and
the lubricant NISSAN A/C System Oil Type R or the
exact equivalents. Use of any other refrigerants or
lubricants will cause severe damage, and you may
need to replace your vehicle’s entire air conditioner
system.
The release of refrigerants into the atmosphere is
prohibited in many countries and regions. The refrig-
erant HFC-134a (R-134a) in your vehicle will not harm
the Earth’s ozone layer. However, it may contribute in a
small part to the global warming effect. NISSAN
recommends that the refrigerant be appropriately
recovered and recycled. Contact a NISSAN dealer
when servicing the air conditioner system.

WHEN TRAVELLING OR
REGISTERING IN ANOTHER
COUNTRY
VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION
When planning to travel in another country or
region, find out whether the fuel required for your
vehicle is available in that country or region. Using a
low octane rated fuel may cause engine damage.
Therefore, be sure that the required fuel is available
wherever you go. For additional information regarding
recommended fuel, see earlier in this section.
It is prohibited to cover, paint, weld, cut, drill, alter or
remove Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
(chassis number)
VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION PLATE (if
equipped)
When transferring the registration of your vehi-
cle to another country, state, province or district,
contact the appropriate authorities to find out that the
vehicle complies with the local legal requirements. In
some cases, a vehicle cannot meet the legal require-
ments, and it may be necessary to modify the vehicle to
meet local laws and regulations. In addition, there may
be possibilities that a vehicle cannot be adapted in
certain areas.
STI0778
The vehicle identification number is located as shown.
Remove the cover to access the number.
STI0777
The laws and regulations for motor vehicle emission
control and safety standards vary according to the
country, state, province or district; therefore, the
vehicle specification may differ.
The plate is affixed as shown.
ENGINE SERIAL NUMBER
VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN)
PLATE (if equipped)
When any vehicles are to be taken into another
country, state, province or district, its modifica-
tion, transportation, registration, and any other
expenses which may result, are the responsi-
bility of the user. NISSAN is not responsible for
any inconveniences that may result.
STI0785
The engine serial number is stamped on the engine as
shown.
STI0787
The vehicle identification number plate is attached as
shown. This number is the identification for your vehicle
and is used in the vehicle registration.
Technical information 9-9
UNIFORM TIRE QUALITY GRADING
(if equipped)
Quality Grades: All passenger car tires must conform
to local safety requirements in addition to these
grades.
CERTIFICATION LABEL (if equipped)
AIR CONDITIONER SPECIFICATION LABEL
Quality grades can be found where applicable on the
tire sidewall between tread shoulder and maximum
section width. For example:
Treadwear 200 Traction AA Temperature A
TREADWEAR
The treadwear grade is a comparative rating based on
the wear rate of the tire when tested under controlled
conditions on a specified government test course. For
example, a tire graded 150 would wear one and one-
half (1 1/2) times as well on the government course as
a tire graded 100. The relative performance of tires
depends upon the actual conditions of their use,
however, and may depart significantly from the norm
due to variations in driving habits, service practices
and differences in road characteristics and climate.
JVT0066X
STI0776
The air conditioner specification label is attached to
the engine compartment as shown.
TIRE PLACARD
TRACTION AA, A, B AND C
The traction grades, from highest to lowest, are AA, A,
B, and C. Those grades represent the tire’s ability to
stop on wet pavement as measured under controlled
conditions on specified government test surfaces of
asphalt and concrete. A tire marked C may have poor
traction performance.
STI0448
The cold tire pressures are shown on the tire placard
affixed to the driver’s side center pillar.
WARNING:
The traction grade assigned to this tire is based
on straight-ahead braking traction tests, and
does not include acceleration, cornering, hydro-
planing, or peak traction characteristics.
9-10 Technical information
EVENT DATA RECORDERS (EDR) (if
equipped)
RADIO APPROVAL NUMBER AND
INFORMATION
This vehicle is equipped with an Event Data Recorder
(EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is to record, in
certain crash or near crash-like situations, such as an
air bag deployment or hitting a road obstacle, data that
will assist in understanding how a vehicle’s systems
performed. The EDR is designed to record data related
to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short
period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in
this vehicle is designed to record such data as:
TEMPERATURE A, B AND C
FOR THAILAND
This telecommunication equipment conforms to NTC
technical requirement.
The temperature grades are A (the highest), B, and C,
representing the tire’s resistance to the generation of
heat and its ability to dissipate heat when tested under
controlled conditions on a specified indoor laboratory
test wheel. Sustained high temperature can cause the
material of the tire to degenerate and reduce tire life,
and excessive temperature can lead to sudden tire

failure. The grade
C
corresponds to
a
level of
.
.
.
How various systems in your vehicle were operat-
ing;
performance which all passenger car tires must meet
under the local regulations. Grades B and A represent
higher levels of performance on the laboratory test
wheel than the minimum required by law.
Whether or not the driver and passenger safety
belts were buckled/fastened;
How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the
accelerator and/or brake pedal; and,
WARNING:
.
.
How fast the vehicle was traveling.
Sounds are not recorded.
The temperature grade for this tire is estab-
lished for a tire that is properly inflated and not
overloaded. Excessive speed, under-inflation, or
excessive loading, either separately or in com-
bination, can cause heat build-up and possible
tire failure.
These data can help provide a better understanding of
the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.
NOTE: EDR data are recorded by your vehicle only if a
nontrivial crash situation occurs; no data are recorded
by the EDR under normal driving conditions and no
personal data (e.g. name, gender, age and crash
location) are recorded. However, other parties, such as
law enforcement, could combine the EDR data with the
type of personally identifying data routinely acquired
during a crash investigation.
JVT0050X
To read data recorded by an EDR, special equipment
is required and access to the vehicle or the EDR is
needed. In addition to the vehicle manufacturer and
NISSAN dealer, other parties, such as law enforce-
ment, that have the special equipment, can read the
information if they have access to the vehicle or the
EDR. EDR data will only be accessed with the consent
of the vehicle owner or lessee or as otherwise required
or permitted by law.
