Do not use wax on the camera lens. Wipe
off any wax with a clean cloth dampened
with mild detergent diluted with water.
OPERATING TIPS
.
It may take some time until the rear view
monitor is displayed after the shift lever has
been shifted to the “R” (Reverse) position
from another position or to another posi-
tion from the “R” (Reverse) position. Objects
may be distorted momentarily until the rear
view monitor screen is displayed comple-
tely.
.
.
.
When the temperature is extremely high or
low, the screen may not clearly display
objects. This is not a malfunction.
When strong light directly enters the cam-
era, objects may not be displayed clearly.
This is not a malfunction.
WAE0168X
Type A (model with dual display)
Vertical lines may be seen in objects on the
screen. This is due to strong reflected light
from the bumper. This is not a malfunction.
.
.
The screen may flicker under fluorescent
light. This is not a malfunction.
The colors of objects on the rear view
monitor may differ somewhat from those
of the actual object.
.
.
.
Objects on the monitor may not be clear in

a
dark place or at night. This is not a
Type B (model with single display)
malfunction.
When you push the CAMERA button on the
Display Commander (Type A)/center multi-
function control panel (Type B) or shift the shift
lever into the “R” (Reverse) position while the
ignition switch is in the “ON” position, the
Intelligent Around View Monitor operates. The
monitor displays various views of the position
of the vehicle.
If dirt, rain or snow attaches to the camera,
the rear view monitor may not clearly
display objects. Clean the camera.
Do not use alcohol, benzine or thinner to
clean the camera. This will cause discolora-
tion. To clean the camera, wipe with a cloth
dampened with diluted mild cleaning agent
and then wipe with a dry cloth.
Designs and items displayed on the screen may

Available views:
Always look out the windows and check
to be sure that it is safe to move before
operating the vehicle. Always operate the
vehicle slowly.
Do not use the Intelligent Around View
Monitor with the outside mirror in the
stored position, and make sure that the
back door is securely closed when oper-
ating the vehicle using the Intelligent
Around View Monitor.
The distance between objects viewed on
the Intelligent Around View Monitor dif-
fers from the actual distance.
The cameras are installed above the front
grille, the outside mirrors and above the
rear license plate. Do not put anything on
the cameras.
When washing the vehicle with high-
pressure water, be sure not to spray it
around the cameras. Otherwise, water
may enter the camera unit causing water
condensation on the lens, a malfunction,
fire or an electric shock.
Do not strike the cameras. They are
precision instruments. Doing so could
cause a malfunction or cause damage
resulting in a fire or an electric shock.

The distance guide line and the vehicle
width line should be used as a reference
only when the vehicle is on a paved, level
surface. The distance viewed on the
monitor is for reference only and may
be different than the actual distance
between the vehicle and displayed ob-
jects.
The displayed lines on the rear view will
appear slightly off to the right because
the rear view camera is not installed in
the rear center of the vehicle.
Indicate the vehicle width when backing up.
Front and rear view
Predictive course lines:
Indicate the predictive course when operating
the vehicle. The predictive course lines will be
displayed on the monitor when the steering
wheel is turned. The predictive course lines will
move depending on how much the steering
wheel is turned and will not be displayed while
the steering wheel is in the neutral position.
.
Use the displayed lines and the bird’s-eye
view as a reference. The lines and the
bird’s-eye view are greatly affected by
the number of occupants, fuel level,
vehicle position, road condition and road
grade.
.
.
If the tires are replaced with different
sized tires, the predictive course lines and
the bird’s-eye view may be displayed
incorrectly.
When driving the vehicle up a hill, objects
viewed in the monitor are further than
they appear. When driving the vehicle
down a hill, objects viewed in the monitor
are closer than they appear. Use the
mirrors or actually look to properly judge
distances to other objects.
The front view will not be displayed when the
vehicle speed is above 8 km/h (5 MPH).
NOTE:
SAA1840
When the monitor displays the front view and
the steering wheel turns about 90 degrees or
less from the neutral position, both the right
Front view
and left predictive course lines
are dis-
played. When the steering wheel turns about
90 degrees or more, a line is displayed only
on the opposite side of the turn.
Bird’s-eye view
.
.
The vehicle width and predictive course
lines are wider than the actual width and
course.
The distance between objects viewed in
the rear view differs from actual distance
because a wide-angle lens is used. Ob-
jects in the rear view will appear visually
opposite than when viewed in the rear
view and outside mirrors.
WARNING:
.
Objects in the bird’s-eye view will appear
further than the actual distance because
the bird’s-eye view is a pseudo view that
is processed by combining the views
from the cameras on the outside mirrors,
the front and the rear of the vehicle.

object.
Inclement weather or ultrasonic sources
such as an automatic car wash, a truck’s
compressed-air brakes or a pneumatic
drill may affect the function of the sys-
tem; this may include reduced perfor-
mance or a false activation.

moving objects in the bird’s-eye view. The
MOD system will not operate if the outside
mirror is moving in or out or if either door is
opened.
When the shift lever is in the “D” (Drive)
position and the vehicle speed is below
approximately 8 km/h (5 MPH), the MOD
system detects moving objects in the front
view or front-wide view.
When the shift lever is in the “R” (Reverse)

Do not use the MOD system when towing
a trailer (if available). The system may not
function properly.
Excessive noise (such as from the audio
system or an open vehicle window) will
interfere with the chime sound, and it
may not be audible.
The MOD system performance will be
limited according to environmental con-

WARNING:
MOVING OBJECT DETECTION (MOD)
The Moving Object Detection (MOD) system can
inform the driver of moving objects surround-
ing the vehicle when driving out of garages,
maneuvering into parking lots and other such
instances.
.
The MOD system is not a substitute for
proper vehicle operation and is not de-

jects surrounding the vehicle. When
maneuvering, always use the outside
mirror and rear view mirror and turn
and check the surrounding to ensure it
is safe to maneuver.
