Visual indicators informing the driver  
that a system is in operation (operation  
or deactivation indicator lights) or of the  
occurrence of a fault (warning light).

on, this confirms that the corresponding  
system has come into operation.  
Common operation indicator lights  
Leftꢀhand direction indicator.  
Dipped headlamps.  
When the ignition is switched on  
The warning lights come on for a few  
seconds when the vehicle’s ignition is  
switched on.  
When the engine is started, these warning  
lights should switch off.  
If they remain on, before moving off,  
consult the warning light concerned.  
Main beam headlamps.  
Handbrake applied.  
Associated warnings  
The switching on of certain warning  
lights may be accompanied by an audi-  
ble signal and a message on the multi-  
function display.  
Rightꢀhand direction  
indicator.

Front fog lamps.  
The warning lights may come on  
continuously or flash.  
Certain warning lights may come  
on in two different modes. Only by  
relating the type of lighting to the  
operating status of the vehicle can  
it be ascertained whether the situ-  
ation is normal or whether a fault  
has occurred.  
Rear fog lamp.  
Diesel engine preꢀheating.  
Wait until this is switched off  
before operating the starter.

Automatic wiping.  
6ꢀspeed piloted manual gearbox.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have activated the auto-  
matic windscreen wiping.  
This display indicates the po-  
sition that you have selected  
on the gear selection gate  
(R, N, A or M).  
Automatic lighting.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have activated the  
automatic switching on of the  
headlamps.  
This display indicates the gear  
engaged in automatic or man-  
ual operating mode (1 to 6).  
Speed limiter.  
This display indicates the op-  
erating mode selected (auto-  
matic or sport).  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have activated the  
speed limiter mode.  
Foot on brake.  
Press the brake pedal to start  
the engine with the 6-speed pi-  
loted manual gearbox or auto-  
matic gearbox.  
If this is displayed, it indi-  
cates that you can set the  
speed limiter speed value to  
be stored.  
Automatic gearbox.  
This display indicates the posi-  
tion that you have selected on  
the gear selection gate (P, R, N  
or D).  
The other indicator lights appear on the  
large display, located in the centre of  
the instrument panel.  
Cruise control.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have activated the  
cruise control mode.  
If this is displayed it indi-  
cates that you can set the  
cruise control speed value  
to be stored.  
This display indicates the gear  
engaged in the automatic or  
manual operation programme.  
Automatic locking.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have activated the au-  
tomatic locking of the doors and  
boot while driving.  
This display indicates the op-  
erating programme selected  
(automatic, sport, snow or  
manual).

Deactivation warning lights  
If one of the following warning lights  
comes on, this confirms that the corre-  
sponding system has been switched off  
intentionally.  
Dynamic stability control  
(ESP/ASR) deactivation.  
The ESP/ASR system is put  
into service automatically when  
the vehicle is started.  
Automatic wiping.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have deactivated the  
automatic windscreen wiping.  
A specific button, located in the centre  
of the fascia, permits deactivation of the  
system. This is confirmed by continu-  
ous lighting of this warning light and of  
the indicator light on the button.  
From approximately 30 mph (50 km/h),  
the system is reactivated automatically.  
Automatic lighting.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have deactivated the  
automatic switching on of the  
headlamps.  
Speed limiter.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have deactivated the  
speed limiter.  
Common deactivation warning  
lights  
Specific deactivation warning lights  
Passenger’s air bag system  
deactivation.  
The passenger’s air bag system  
is put into service automatically  
when the vehicle is started.  
Cruise control.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have deactivated the  
cruise control.  
A specific control, located on the pas-  
senger’s side of the fascia, permits  
deactivation of the system. This is  
confirmed by continuous lighting of this  
warning light on the instrument panel or  
on the seat belt and passenger’s front  
air bag warning lights display.  
The other warning lights appear on the  
large display, located in the centre of  
the instrument panel.  
Automatic locking.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that you have deactivated the  
automatic locking of the doors  
and boot while driving.

In order to identify it, consult the mes-  
sage on the multifunction display.  
After checking:

that the doors, boot, the rear  
screen and bonnet are closed,  
the engine oil level,  
the screenwash fluid level,  
the remote control battery,  
the pressure of the tyres,  
Dynamic stability control  
(ESP/ASR).  
The ESP/ASR system is put  
into service automatically when  
the vehicle is started.  
Any fault resulting in the displaying

Unless the system has been deactivated,  
if this warning light and the indicator light  
on the button come on continuously, this  
indicates the occurrence of a fault in

Air bags.  
If this comes on, it indicates the  
occurrence of a fault in one of  
the air bag or seat belt preten-  
sioner systems.  
If it flashes, it indicates the occurrence of  
a fault in the emission control system.  
Seat belt not fastened/  
unfastened.  
Low fuel level.  
If this comes on, it indicates that  
you only have enough fuel left  
to drive approximately 30 miles  
(50 km).  
If this comes on, it indicates  
that the driver and/or the front  
passenger has not fastened or has un-  
fastened his seat belt.  
It also indicates that one or more rear  
passengers have unfastened their seat  
belt.  
Engine oil pressure.  
If this comes on, it indicates the  
occurrence of a fault in the en-  
gine lubrication circuit. Stop the  
vehicle immediately and as safely as  
possible.  
The capacity of the tank is approximately  
60 litres.  
Maximum coolant  
temperature.  
If this comes on, it indicates that  
the temperature in the cooling  
system is too high. Stop the vehicle im-  
mediately and as safely as possible.  
Battery charge.  
Water in diesel.  
If this comes on, it indicates  
the occurrence of a fault in the  
battery charging circuit (dirty or  
loose terminals, slack or cut alternator  
belt, ...).  
If this comes on, it indicates the  
presence of water in the diesel  
filter.  
There is a risk of damage to the injection  
system on Diesel engines.  
Door open.  
Adoor, the boot, the rear screen  
or the bonnet* is open:  
-

if the speed is below 6 mph  
(10 km/h), this warning light comes  
on continuously.  
if the speed is higher than 6 mph  
(10 km/h), this warning light comes  
on continuously, accompanied by  
an audible signal.

in the circuit. Stop the vehicle  
immediately and as safely as  
possible.

If this is displayed, following an  
action on the wipers stalk, it in-  
dicates an insufficient level of  
fluid.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
the occurrence of a fault in one  
of the air bag or pretensioning  
seat belt systems.  
Unless the system has been deacti-  
vated, if this warning light and the indi-  
cator light on the button come on, this  
indicates the occurrence of a fault in  
the ESP/ASR system or in the hill start  
assistance.  
Fill the screenwash/headlamp wash fluid  
reservoir when you stop.  
Braking.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
the occurrence of a fault in one  
of the braking systems:  
Fuel level.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that there is only enough fuel  
remaining to drive approximate-  
ly 30 miles (50 km).  
Ice warning.  
-

(EBFD) faulty (simultaneous  
lighting of the ABS warning light).  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
that there is risk of the forma-  
tion of ice on the road below a

the occurrence of a fault in the  
electronic engine immobiliser  
system or that the remote control bat-  
tery is flat.  
Drive carefully.  
Stop the vehicle immediately and as

If the vehicle is moving, check that the  
handbrake is released fully.  
Power steering.  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
the occurrence of a fault in  
the power steering. Stop the  
vehicle immediately and as safely as  
possible.  
Handbrake.  
If this is displayed, while the  
vehicle is moving, it indicates  
that the handbrake has not  
been released fully.  
Door open.  
Adoor, the boot, the rear screen  
or the bonnet* is open:

if the speed is below 6 mph  
(10 km/h), this warning light is  
displayed in orange,  
if the speed is higher than 6 mph  
(10 km/h), this warning light is  
displayed in red.  
Antiꢀlock braking system  
(ABS).  
If this is displayed, it indicates  
the occurrence of a fault in the  
anti-lock braking system.  
However, this does not prevent opera-  
tion of the vehicle’s assisted braking.

mains on to indicate that a service  
must be carried out soon.  
5 seconds after the ignition is switched  
on, the spanner is switched off; the  
distance recorder resumes its normal  
operation. The display then indicates  
the total and trip distances.

Service overdue  
Service indicator zero reset  
For 5 seconds after the ignition is  
switched on,the spanner flashes to in-  
dicate that the service must be carried  
out as soon as possible.  
Example: the service is overdue by  
300 miles (km).

Following this operation, if you wish  
to disconnect the battery, lock the  
vehicle and wait at least five minutes  
for the zero reset to be taken into  
account.  
For 5 seconds after the ignition is  
switched on, the display indicates:  
Retrieving the service information  
You can access the service information  
at any time.  
Press the trip distance recorder  
zero reset button.  
The service information is displayed for  
a few seconds, then disappears.  
5 seconds after the ignition is switched  
on, the distance recorder resumes its  
normal operation. The spanner reꢀ  
mains lit.  
After each service, the service indicator  
must be reset to zero.  
To do this, carry out the following pro-  
cedure:  
switch off the ignition,  
press and hold the trip distance re-  
corder zero reset button,  
switch on the ignition; the distance  
recorder display begins a count-  
down,  
when the display indicates "=0", re-  
lease the button; the spanner disap-  
pears.

The distance remaining may be  
weighted by the time factor, de-  
pending on the driver’s driving  
habits.  
Therefore, the spanner may also  
come on if you have exceeded the  
two year service interval.

Oil level correct

validity or invalidity of the engine oil  
level.  
This is indicated by the flashing of  
"OIL ꢀꢀ". Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.  
Lack of oil  
Dipstick
