To avoid any risk of burns, slacken  
CHECKING THE LEVELS  
Oil level  
Brakes and clutch level:  
– The level should always be  
between the DANGER and MAX  
marks on the reservoir.  
– If the level drops substantially, con-  
tact a PEUGEOT dealer imme-  
diately.

dropped, remove the cap and top up  
the level.  
Check the level regularly and top up  
between changes. Maximum con-  
sumption is 0.5 litres per 600 miles  
(1 000 km).  
Used products  
Do not dispose of used oil, brake  
fluid or coolant down drains or on the  
ground.  
The oil level should be checked with  
the vehicle level and the engine cold  
using the oil gauge or the dipstick.  
Fluid change:  
– must be carried out according to  
the manufacturer's servicing  
schedule.  
– use fluids recommended by the  
manufacturer, which fulfil DOT4  
standards.  
Power steering fluid level  
Dipstick  
There are two marks on  
the dipstick:  
A = maximum  
Never fill past this mark.  
B = minimum  
To maintain the reliability  
of the engines and of the  
emission control systems,  
the use of additives in the  
engine oil is prohibited.  
Open the reservoir with the engine  
cold. The level should always be  
above the MINI mark, close to the  
MAXI mark.  
Note: the brake fluid is noxious and  
very corrosive. Avoid any contact  
with the skin.  
Windscreen and headlamp*  
wash fluid level  
Coolant level  
For best quality cleaning and for your  
safety, we recommend that you use  
products recommended by PEUGEOT.  
Use the fluid recommended by the  
manufacturer.  
When the engine is warm, the tem-  
perature of the coolant is controlled  
by the engine fan. Because this fan  
can operate with the ignition off and  
because the cooling system is pres-  
surised, wait for at least one hour  
after the engine has stopped before  
carrying out any work.  
Oil change  
According to the information given in  
"PEUGEOT SERVICING".  
Note: avoid any prolonged contact of  
used oil with the skin.  
Viscosity selection  
In all cases, the oil selected must  
meet the manufacturer's require-  
ments.
