Starting & Operating -> Stop & Start Automatic Function for Your Peugeot Expert Van Third Generation (2016-2025)

Starting & Operating
The engine is warmed up.
engine temperature is cold. The limitation is to
allow the lubrication system to fully protect the
engine.
Release the clutch pedal.
-
-
The ambient temperature is between 0 °C
and 35 °C.
5
The engine will be switched off while the ignition
stays on.
-
-
-
The engine coolant temperature is not too
high.
Vehicles with automatic transmission
Stop & Start Automatic
Function
If the vehicle is at a standstill with depressed
brake pedal or gear selector in N, Autostop is
activated automatically.
In case of vehicles with automatic transmission
of type B, an Autostop can also be activated at a
speed below 20 km/h.
The engine exhaust temperature is not too
high, e.g. after driving with high engine load.
The climate control system allows an
Autostop.
Stop & start system
The stop & start system helps to save fuel and to
reduce the exhaust emissions. When conditions
allow, it switches off the engine as soon as the
vehicle is at a low speed or at a standstill, e.g. at
a traffic light or in a traffic jam.
-
-
The brake vacuum is sufficient.
The engine will be switched off while the ignition
stays on.
The self-cleaning function of the exhaust filter
is not active.
Indication
-
The vehicle was driven at least at walking
speed since the last Autostop.
Activation
Otherwise an Autostop will be inhibited.
The stop & start system is available as soon as
the engine is started, the vehicle starts-off and
the conditions as stated below in this section are
fulfilled.
The system can be activated in the vehicle
personalisation. If the stop & start system is
temporarily not available, the control indicator
flashes for a few seconds.
NOTE:
The Autostop may be inhibited for several hours
after a battery replacement or reconnection.
Certain settings of the climate control system
may inhibit an Autostop.
Immediately after higher speed driving an
Autostop may be inhibited.
An Autostop is indicated by control indicator
.
During an Autostop, the heating and brake
performance will be maintained.
Deactivation
Vehicle battery discharge protection
The stop & start system can be deactivated in
the vehicle personalisation.
If the system is deactivated during an Autostop,
the engine restarts immediately.
To ensure reliable engine restarts, several
vehicle battery discharge protection features are
implemented as part of the stop & start system.
Conditions for an Autostop
The stop & start system checks if each of the
following conditions is fulfilled.
Power saving measures
Autostop
-
-
The stop & start system is not manually
deactivated.
During an Autostop, several electrical features
such as auxiliary electric heater or rear window
heating are disabled or switched to a power
saving mode. The fan speed of the climate
control system is reduced to save power.
Vehicles with manual transmission
An Autostop can be activated at a standstill or at
a speed below 20 km/h.
Activate an Autostop as follows:
The driver's door is closed or the driver's seat
belt is fastened.
-
-
The sliding doors are closed
Depress the clutch pedal.
Set the selector lever to neutral.
The vehicle battery is sufficiently charged
and in good condition.

Warning
Depress the clutch pedal without depressing the
brake pedal to restart the engine.
Before leaving the vehicle, make sure the
parking brake is applied.

Vehicles with automatic transmission
Type A: The engine is restarted if
driver's seat belt unfastened
engine temperature too low
Control indicator
illuminates constantly
when parking brake is applied.

the gear selector is in position D with M
activated or not and the brake pedal is
released
charging level of vehicle battery below
defined level
Manual parking brake
-

brake vacuum not sufficient
the gear selector is in position N, the brake
pedal is released and the gear selector is
moved to position D with M activated or not
vehicle driven at least at walking speed
climate control system requests engine start
air conditioning manually switched on
the gear selector is in position P, the brake
pedal is depressed and the gear selector is
moved to position R, N or D with M activated
or not
If an electrical accessory, e.g. a portable CD
player, is connected to the power outlet, a
brief power drop during the restart might be
noticeable.
-
the reverse gear is engaged
Type B: The engine is restarted if
Brakes
-
-
the gear selector is in position D or M and the
brake pedal is released
The brake system comprises two independent
brake circuits.
the gear selector is in position N, the brake
pedal is depressed and and the gear selector
is moved to D or M
If a brake circuit fails, the vehicle can still be
braked using the other brake circuit. However,
braking effect is achieved only when the brake
pedal is depressed firmly. Considerably more
force is needed for this. The braking distance
is extended. Seek the assistance of a workshop
before continuing the journey.
When the engine is not running, the support of
the brake servo unit disappears once the brake
pedal has been depressed once or twice.
Braking effect is not reduced, but braking
requires significantly greater force. It is
especially important to bear this in mind when
being towed.
Warning
Always apply parking brake firmly without
operating the release button, and apply as
firmly as possible on a downhill or uphill
slope. To release the parking brake, pull the
lever up slightly, press the release button and
fully lower the lever. To reduce the operating
forces of the parking brake, depress the foot
brake at the same time.
-
the reverse gear is engaged
Restart of the engine by the stop & start
system
The selector lever must be in neutral to enable
an automatic restart.
If one of the following conditions occurs during
an Autostop, the engine will be restarted
automatically by the stop & start system:
-
depending on engine, vehicle speed
exceeding 3 km/h or 25 km/h (manual
transmission)
