Protect the key from moisture and strong vibrations.

Keep the grooves in the key clean.

The eﬀective range of the key signal is about 30 m. The ef-

fective range can be reduced, e.g. due to signal interference

from other transmitters.

Troubleshooting

The battery in the key is almost empty

If necessary, the key must be synchronized if a favoured but-

ton on the key has been repeatedly pressed outside of the eﬀec-

tive range of the remote control.

Insert a thin screwdriver into the

Changing the key battery

The new battery must comply with the speciﬁcation of the origi-

nal battery.

Press any button on the remote

The SAFE function is activated when the vehicle is locked from

the outside.

WARNING

Risk of death!

If the battery is swallowed, serious or even fatal injuries can re-

sult from burns in the digestive tract.

In the display of the instrument cluster after the ignition is

switched oﬀ, a message regarding the SAFE function is dis-

played.

Always keep children away from the vehicle key and batteries.

If the battery is swallowed, seek medical help immediately.

No people are allowed in the locked vehicle with the SAFE

onds in quick succession after the vehicle is locked, then goes

out and starts ﬂashing regularly at longer intervals after about

30 secs.

The SAFE function is switched on again after unlocking and

locking the vehicle.

Central locking button

Doors on one side of the vehicle

Using the button on the key, the doors on the driver’s side and

the battery charging ﬂap are unlocked.

Lock/unlock using the central locking button

In vehicles equipped with a keyless locking system, the doors on

the passenger’s side near to which the key is located and the

fuel ﬁller ﬂap are unlocked by touching the door handle.

The symbol in the button comes on when locked.

The button locks/unlocks all of the doors and the boot lid.

The vehicle is also unlocked when a door is opened from the in-

side.

When unlocked again, the other doors and the boot lid are un-

locked.

WARNING

A locked vehicle with a central locking button makes it diﬃcult

for responders to enter the vehicle in an emergency.

Troubleshooting

Central locking fault

The warning light in the driver's door ﬁrst ﬂashes for 2 secs in

quick succession.

In vehicles equipped with a keyless locking system, the door

near to which the key is located and the battery charging ﬂap

are unlocked by touching the door handle.

When unlocked again, the other doors and the boot lid are un-

locked.

Remove the cover

Pull the handle on the front left

door and hold it in place.

Keyless locking (KESSY)

Usage

›

The keyless locking system, KESSY, enables unlocking and lock-

ing of the vehicle without actively using the remote control key.

Operation

Keep the key with you when unlocking and locking.

The sensors on the handle are intended to be operated with bare

hands, e.g. wearing gloves may aﬀect the function of the sen-

sors.

Protection against inadvertently locking the key in the vehicle

If the key is locked inside the vehicle, the vehicle will unlock it-

self automatically. If no door is opened within 45 seconds, the

vehicle automatically locks again.

The recess on the door handle is also present on vehicles

without the keyless locking system.

If the key is locked in the luggage compartment, the luggage

compartment lid can be opened within 2 minutes.

Release

Grab the door handle.

Open the door.

Deactivate keyless locking

Lock the vehicle with the button on the key.

Within 5 s, touch the sensor on the door handle with your ﬁn-

ger.

Deactivation is conﬁrmed by a single ﬂash of the direction indi-

cators.

To check the deactivation, wait at least 10 seconds and then

pull the door handle.

The door must remain locked.

Touch the sensor.

Keyless locking is automatically activated once again after the

vehicle is unlocked.

The alarm system triggers audible and visual signals during a

break-in or towing attempt.

The alarm system is activated automatically approximately 30

seconds after the vehicle is locked.

If the vehicle is not unlocked for a longer period of time, the

function can be deactivated automatically.

The alarm system is automatically deactivated after the vehicle

is unlocked.

If single door locking or unlocking of the doors on one side of

the vehicle is set, there is no vehicle unlocking when the key ap-

proaches the rear of the vehicle.

Alarm triggering

The activated alarm system triggers an alarm when one of the

following events occurs:

Opening the front ﬂap

Opening the boot lid

Opening the door

Manipulation of the ignition lock

Towing the vehicle

Movement in the vehicle

Sudden and signiﬁcant voltage drop of the electrical system

Uncoupling the trailer

Troubleshooting

The vehicle cannot be unlocked or locked using the sensors

on the handle

Lock or unlock the vehicle with the button on the key.

Then try to unlock or lock the vehicle using the sensors on the

handle.

If keyless locking does not work, seek the help of a specialist

garage.
