Press on the cover cap  
and remove it.  
Remove the front cover  
Press on the cover cap  
and remove it.

Install the towing eye  
Instructions for the driver of the pulling vehicle  
Drive slowly and smoothly.  
Only accelerate once the rope is taut.  
Screw in the towing  
eye.  
Insert the wheel  
wrench or similar ob-  
ject through the tow-  
ing eye.  
Tighten the towing  
eye.  
Instructions for the driver of the towed vehicle  
Move the shift lever to the neutral position or the  
selector lever to the position.  
If it is not possible to start the engine, switch on  
the ignition!  
WARNING  
Risk of accident!  
When the ignition is switched off, the brake booster  
and the power steering do not work. In addition,  
there is a risk that the steering lock will engage.  
After the towing process  
Unscrew the towing eye.  
Insert the cover cap.  
If it is not possible to start the engine, switch on  
the ignition!  
Towing the vehicle

WARNING  
Risk of accident!  
What you should be mindful of  
The tow rope must not be twisted.  
WARNING  
When towing, drive at a speed of max. 50 km/h.  
Problems and faults with the brake system can ex-  
tend the braking distance of the vehicle!  
DANGER  
Danger of a functional restriction of the brake boos-  
ter!  
When braking in a vehicle with manual transmis-  
sion, when the vehicle is in gear and at low revs,  
depress the clutch pedal.  
DANGER  
Danger of the brakes overheating!  
WARNING  
Risk of accident!  
Use a braided synthetic fibre rope for towing. Do  
not use a twisted tow rope.  
Do not depress the brake pedal if you do not need  
to brake.  
If the original front spoiler is damaged, ensure the  
air supply to the front brakes is guaranteed.  
NOTICE  
Always keep the tow rope taut during towing.  
Do not exceed a towing distance of 50 km.  
Check the brake fluid level  
NOTICE  
Risk of gear damage!  
Test conditions  
The vehicle is on a horizontal surface.  
If the gearbox no longer contains any oil, the vehi-  
cle must only be towed with the front axle raised  
clear of the ground or transported on a special  
breakdown vehicle.  
The engine is off.  
Checking  
The fill level must be in  
the marked area.  
Vehicles with an automatic transmission must not  
be towed without the ignition switched on or with  
the rear axle raised.
