CAUTION
CAUTION
D Should a safety system light, such as
the ABS warning or the SRS warning,
fail the system check when you start
the engine, this could mean that these
systems are not be available to help
protect you in an accident, which may
result in serious injury or death.
Immediately stop your vehicle at a safe
place and contact your Toyota dealer if
either of the following conditions oc-
curs:
D The brake warning light does not turn
off even after the parking brake is re-
leased while the engine is running.
D Immediately have your vehicle in-
spected by your Toyota dealer should
these lights fail the system check.
In this case, the brakes may not
work properly and your stopping
distance will be longer. Depress the
brake pedal firmly and bring the
vehicle to an immediate stop.
(a) Brake System Warning Light and
Buzzer
D The brake system warning light re-
mains on together with the ABS warn-
ing light.
This light comes on in the following cases
when the ignition switch is set to ON.
In this case, the anti-lock brake
system will fail and the vehicle will
become extremely unstable during
braking.
D When the parking brake is applied...
This light comes on for a few seconds when
the ignition switch is set to ON even after the
parking brake is released.
If the vehicle speed rises above 5 km/h wth
the parking brake applied for 1 second or
more, a buzzer sounds.
(b) Driver’s Seatbelt Reminder Light
and Buzzer
The light and buzzer act as a reminder to
buckle up the driver’s seatbelt.
D When the brake fluid level is low...
Once the ignition switch is set to ON or
START, the reminder light flashes if the
driver’s seatbelt is not fastened. Unless the
driver fastens the belt, the light continues
flashing.
CAUTIO
It is dangerous to continue driving nor-
mally when the brake fluid level is low.
If the vehicle speed rises above 20 km/h with
the seatbelt unfastened, the buzzer will
sound for 30 seconds. Then, if the seatbelt
is still unfastened, the buzzer will sound in
a different tone for 90 more seconds. Even
if the vehicle speed drops below 20 km/h, the
buzzer will continue to sound. To stop the
buzzer, fasten the seatbelt.
Have your vehicle checked at your Toyota
dealer in the following cases:
D The light does not come on even if the

This warning light comes on when the ignition
switch is set to ON, and goes off when the
engine is started.
If it comes on while you are driving, have your
vehicle checked/repaired by your Toyota
dealer as soon as possible.

accelerator pedal is depressed, there may be
a
problem somewhere in the electronic
NOTICE
throttle control system.
At this time, vibration may occur. However,
if you depress the accelerator pedal more
firmly and slowly, you can drive your vehicle
at low speeds. Have your vehicle checked by
your Toyota dear as soon as possible.
When the charging system warning light
comes on while the engine is running,
malfunctions such as the engine drive

contact your Toyota dealer.
Even if the abnormality of the electronic

of fuel in the tank, the low fuel level warning
