Outside rear view mirrors—  
To adjust the steering wheel position, hold  
the steering wheel, push down the lock re-  
lease lever. Then tilt the steering wheel to  
the desired angle, push or pull it to the de-  
sired steering column length and return  
the lever to its original position.  
To adjust the mirr
Adjust the mirroby selecting the left (L) or  
right (R) on te mirror select switch then ad-  
just the miror postion by using the control  
switch that you can just see the side of  
your ehicle in the mirror.  
Linked mirror function when reversing  
CAUTION  
Te outside rear mirrors will automatically  
angle downwards when the vehicle is revers-  
ing in order to give a better view of the  
ground. However this function will not oper-  
ate when the mirror select switch is in the  
neutral position (between L and R).  
D Do not adjust the steering wheel whil
the vehicle is moving. Doing so ma
cause the driver to mishandle the ve-  
hicle and an accident may ocur re-  
sulting in death or serious injury.  
D After adjusting the steering wheel, try  
moving it up and down forward and  
rearward to make sure it is locked in  
position.  
CAUTION  
Do not adjust the mirror while the ve-  
hicle is moving. Doing so may cause the  
driver to mishandle the vehicle and an  
accident may occur resulting in death  
or serious injury.

To adjust a mirror, use the switches.  
The rear view mrors can be folded back-  
ward for parking in compact areas.  
1. Master switch—To select the mirror to be  
adjusted  
To fold threar view mirror, push backward.  
Press the switch to “L” (left) or “R” (right).  
CAUTION  
2. Control switch—To move the mirror Press  
the switch in the desired direction.  
Do not drive with the mirrors folded  
backward. Both the driver and pas-  
senger side rear view mirrors must be  
extended and properly adjusted before  
driving.  
Mirrors can be adjusted when the ignition  
switch is set to ACC or ON.  
Vehicles with driving position mmory  
system—  
When the automatic transmission selector  
lever is shifted into “R” poitin, the rear  
view mirrors automatically move down to  
help reversing.  
The mirrors return to the previous position  
when you shift the transmission lever out of  
“R” position.  
The position of the outside rear view mirrors,  
driver’s seat and steering wheel can be  
memorised. For details, see “Driving position  
memory system” on page 50 in Section 1--3.  
NOTICE  
If ice should jam the mirror, do not oper-  
ate the control or scrape the mirror face.  
Use a spray de-icer to free the mirror.

Adjust the mirror so that you can just see  
the rear of your vehicle in the mirror.  
Adjust the mirror that you can just see  
the rear of your vehicle in the mirror.  
To reduce glare from the headlights of the  
vehicle behind you during night driving,  
operate the lever on the lower edge of the  
mirror.  
This mirror is equipped with auto anti-  
glare functon. The function is designed  
to reduglare from the headlights of the  
vehice behind you during night driving.  
Daylight driving—Lever at position 1  
When the ignition switch is set to ON, the in-  
de rear view mirror always turns on in the  
automatic function mode.  
The reflection in the mirror has greater clarity  
at this position.  
The indicator illuminates to show you that the  
function is on.  
Night driving—Lever at position 2  
Remember that by reducing glare you also  
lose some rear view clarity.  
In automatic function mode, if the mirror de-  
tects light from the headlights of the vehicle  
behind you, the mirror surface darkens slight-  
ly to reduce the reflected light.  
CAUTION  
To turn off and on the automatic function,  
press the AUTO switch.  
Do not adjust the miror while the ve-  
hicle is moving. Doing so may cause the  
driver to mishandle the vehicle and an  
accident may occur resulting in death  
or serious injury.  
Adjust it before driving so that the rear view  
is in the best condition.  
When the inside air temperature is low, it may  
take a little longer for the mirror to darken in  
response to the detection of headlights.

driver to mishandle the vehicle and an  
accident may occur resulting in death

Vanity mirrors  
To ensure correct functioning of anti-glare  
mirror sensors located on both sides of  
the mirror, do not touch or cover the sen-  
sors with your finger or a piece of cloth,  
etc.  
To use the vanmirror, swing down the  
sun visor and open the cover.  
Vanity ligt (vehicles with moon roof)—The  
light comes on when you open the cover.  
If your automatic anti-glare rear view mirror  
is not functioning correctly, Toyota recom-  
mends that you consult your Toyota dealer  
as soon as possible.
