Operating tips
To cool off your Toyota after it has been parked in the hot sun, drive with the windows
open for a few minutes. This vents the hot air, allowing the air conditioning to cool the
interior more quickly.
Make sure the air intake grilles in front of the windscreen are not blocked (by leaves
or snow, for example).
On humid days, do not blow cold air on the windscreen. The windscreen could fog
up because of the difference in air temperature on the inside and outside of the
windscreen.
157
INTERIOR FEATURES
Using the air conditioning system and defogger
The windows will easily fog up when the humidity in the vehicle is high. Turning
on will dehumidify the air from the outlets and defog the windscreen effectively.
If you turn
off, the windows may fog up more easily.
The windows may fog up more easily if the recirculated air mode is used.
Keep the area under the front seats clear to allow air to circulate throughout the
vehicle.
On cold days, set the fan speed to high for a minute to help clear the intake ducts of
snow or moisture. This can reduce the amount of fogging on the windows.
When driving on dusty roads, close all windows. If dust thrown up by the vehicle is
still drawn into the vehicle after closing the windows, it is recommended the air intake
selector be set to FRESH and the fan speed selector to any setting except OFF.
If following another vehicle on a dusty road, or driving in windy and dusty conditions,
it is recommended the air intake selector be temporarily set to RECRCULATE, which
will close off the outside passage and prevent outside air and dufrom entering the
vehicle interior.
When the outside temperature falls to nearly 0˚C the dehumidification function may
not operate even when
is pressed.
CAUTION
To prevent the windscreen from fogging up do nuse
on in extremely humid weather.
with the air conditioning
The difference in temperature between thoutside air and the windscreen can cause the
outer surface of the windscreen to fog up, blocking your vision.

kbps and a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz.
CD-R or CD-RW playback may not be possible in some instances, depending on the
characteristics of the disc.
There is a wide variety of freeware and other encoding software for MP3 and WMA
