11. Scenarios and car modes
The conditions you're experiencing sometimes affect how you can and should use your car. Knowing its
capabilities and how you can adapt to the situation can have a significant impact on the outcome. The
benefits range from avoiding outright hazards to getting the most out of your car's performance.
This section of the manual covers specific driving scenarios. These include having your car towed, wading through water and
driving on icy roads. Exploring this section gives you a good idea of what features and practices can support you in demanding
conditions.
11.1. Car modes
The various car modes configure your car for specific situations and scenarios. You can activate the mode
you need via the display.
Some activities require a specific car configuration or order of operations. When you select a car mode, the car either makes the
necessary changes or guides you through the process.
The following car modes are available:
The tow mode allows you to have your car towed short distances[1] at low speed. It will enable you to get your car onto a recovery vehicle's flatbed, or move it

to the side of the road to avoid blocking traffic or causing accidents.
If you plan to either stay in the car for a longer period of time while it's still parked, such as during charging, or leave the car while you run some errands, you
can activate parking comfort. It allows a comfortable climate to be maintained in the car as well as give access to entertainment such as media players.

Car wash mode helps you get ready for using an automatic car wash by closing the windows, turning the wipers off, folding the wing mirrors in and activating
air recirculation.
