Type designation
Whenever contacting your Volvo dealer and
when ordering spare parts and accessories
for your car, it makes things easier if you
know your car’s type designation, vehicle
identification number and engine number.
1. VIN
Stamped in the engine compartment
underneath the windscreen.
2. Type designation, vehicle identifi-
cation number, maximum permissible
weights, codes for colour and uphol-
stery and type approval number.
Plate on the wing liner behind the left-
hand headlamp.
3. Engine type designation, component
and serial number
On the right-hand side of the engine
4. Gearbox type designation and serial
number
a: Automatic gearbox GM: on the rear
b: Automatic gearbox AW: on the
upper side
c: Manual gearbox: on the upper side
d: Automatic gearbox: on the top

5. Engine oil decal
The decal specifies oil grade, viscosity
and volume.
