General description - dash panel insert
-KX2-
Note
The control unit in dash panel insert -J285- and immobiliser
control unit -J362- are integrated in the dash panel insert and
cannot be renewed individually.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the following components
are integrated in the dash panel insert:
♦ Control unit in dash panel insert -J285-
♦ Immobiliser control unit -J362-
♦ Speedometer
♦ Rev. counter
♦ Fuel gauge
♦ Coolant temperature gauge
♦ Washer fluid low warning lamp
♦ Multifunction indicator
♦ LED warning lamps
To provide acoustic support to some of the visual displays, the
dash panel features a warning buzzer, which is actuated by the
control unit.
All warning lamps are fitted with light-emitting diodes (LEDs).
No provision is made for dash panel insert repair. If necessary,
the dash panel insert is renewed as a unit ⇒ page 55 .
Preparation for digital tester (tachograph):
In the EU, a digital tachograph has been made mandatory for
commercial use as of 1 January 2013. The digital tachograph
provides all tachograph functions and replaces the conventional
analogue devices used so far.
The signal for the digital tachograph (available as an optional
extra) is provided by a hall sensor located in the rear differential
cover ⇒ Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr. 42; Rear axle.
Fault detection and fault display:
The dash panel insert is equipped with self-diagnosis to ease
fault finding.
For fault finding, use the systems described in chapter “Vehi‐
cle diagnosis, testing and information system” in “Guided Fault
Finding” mode ⇒ page 269 .
