Fuel and Emission control -> Diesel for Your Volkswagen Caddy SUV Fifth Generation (2020-2025)

Diesel
Always refuel diesel with a low sulphur content or with sulphur-free diesel in order to avoid damage to the engine
and particulate filter.
Fill vehicles with a diesel engine only with diesel or diesel with a maximum RME fuel content of 7 %
.
If you use diesel with a high sulphur content, the service intervals are shorter. Information on countries where the
diesel has a high sulphur content is available from your Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles dealership or a qualified
workshop.
The fuel quality affects the running properties, performance and service life of the engine. Refuel with fuel that
already contains suitable additives →
.
Winter-grade diesel fuel and filter preheater system
During the winter season, you have to use diesel with improved flow characteristics under cold conditions(winter
diesel). You can avoid operational faults by refuelling winter diesel. Winter diesel is offered at filling stations during
the winter season.
There may be different classes of cold depending on the climate and time in the national fuel standards.
Diesel vehicles are equipped with a filter preheater system. The cold flow characteristic of the diesel is ensured while
driving by the filter pre-heating function. Information on the cold properties of diesel is provided by the filling
stations of the respective country, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles dealerships or qualified workshops.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles recommends leaving the vehicle somewhere where it is sheltered from the
weather, e.g. in a garage, to ensure that it can still be started even at very low ambient temperatures.
Misfuelling prevention device
The tank filler neck in diesel vehicles may be fitted with a misfuelling prevention device. This is intended to help
ensure that the vehicle is refuelled only using diesel filler nozzles.
If you are unable to insert the fuel nozzle into the tank filler neck properly, first check whether you are using a diesel
pump nozzle. Once you have ascertained that you are using the correct filler nozzle, turn the diesel filler nozzle back
and forth while applying light pressure. This can open the misfuelling prevention device and make it possible to refuel
the vehicle. If the misfuelling prevention device is still closed, contact an authorised workshop and have the system
checked.
The misfuelling prevention device may not open if you have to refuel the vehicle using a spare fuel canister in an
emergency.
In order to still fill the tank with fuel, pour thediesel into the tank extremely slowly in very small quantities. Use a
suitable adapter for the spare fuel canister to make refuelling easier. Suitable adapters are available from a
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles dealership or qualified workshop.
WARNING
Incorrect refuelling can lead to fire, serious injuries and vehicle damage.
Before refuelling, check whether the fuel standard specified on the pump meets the vehicle's requirements.
Do not refuel with pure RME fuel, petrol, fuel oil or other unsuitable fuels.
Use only service additives that have been approved by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in the approved quantity.
At cold temperatures, louder noises may occur in the diesel engine and the exhaust gas may be tinged
blue.
