TP (Traffic Programme)
The TP
function monitors the reports from a set traffic news station and automatically outputs them in radio mode or during
media playback. It must be possible to receive a traffic news station for this purpose.
Some stations that do not broadcast their own traffic news support theTP
function through a corresponding traffic news station (EON).
The system will always automatically tune to a traffic news station in the background if one is available in theAM
frequency band or media mode.
No TP will be shown on the display if no traffic news station can be received. The unit will automatically search for an
available traffic news station. As soon as a new traffic news station is available, the status on the display changes to
TP.

Introduction
The current vehicle position is determined by means of a global satellite system. All measured values and any traffic
reports are compared with the available map material in order to enable optimal navigation to the destination.
Acoustic navigation prompts and graphic representations guide the user to the destination.
In some countries, certain Infotainment system functions can no longer be selected when the vehicle is travelling
above a certain speed. This is not a malfunction, but simply a legal requirement.
WARNING
Configure settings and enter destinations and changes for navigation only when the vehicle is stationary.
If a turn is missed during a route guidance, the navigation may recalculate the
route.
The quality of the navigation recommendations depends on the navigation data available and any reported
traffic problems.
Opening the navigation main menu
1. Tap HOME

Limitations of the navigation function
If the Infotainment system cannot receive any data fromGPS
satellites, e.g. in a tunnel, navigation can still continue using the vehicle sensors.
In areas that are not or only partially digitised in the Infotainment system's memory, the Infotainment system also
tries to enable route guidance.
If navigation data are unavailable or incomplete, the navigation system may be unable to determine the exact vehicle
position. As a result, the navigation may not be as exact as usual.
Road layouts are subject to continuous change, e.g. due to road works. If the navigation data is out of date, errors or
inaccuracies may occur during route guidance.
403
Functional descriptions
Navigation announcements
Navigation announcements are acoustic driving directions for the route currently travelled.
The type and frequency of navigation announcements depends on the settings and the driving situation, e.g.
motorway driving.
A navigation announcement informing you that you have reached your destination area is played if the exact
destination cannot be reached, e.g. because it is located in an area with no digital mapping. In addition, information
about the direction and distance to the destination is shown on the screen.
During dynamic route guidance, you receive information about reported traffic disruptions on the route. An additional
navigation announcement is given if the route is recalculated due to a traffic disruption or changed driving style
(→ Navigation).
The volume of a navigation announcement can be adjusted or muted while the announcement is playing. All other
navigation announcements will be at this volume setting or will be muted.
Navigation announcements are not output when the Infotainment system is
muted.

Introduction
Some external devices can be connected to the Infotainment system by cable and wireless connections present in the
vehicle (if installed).
The type and number of cable and wireless connections differ by equipment package and country. The connections
may also be different within a model series or in special-edition models.
In the case of cable connections, use only the original device connecting cables or, if available, the factory-supplied
connecting cables for your vehicle.
If the adapter or plug on the connecting cable cannot be inserted, check the angle of insertion and the connections.
NOTICE
Use only suitable and undamaged connecting cables for wired connections.
When inserting the adapter and plug of the connecting cable into the appropriate port, ensure that they are
correctly positioned and apply only light pressure. Applying too much pressure may damage both the unit
connection and the adapter or plug of the connecting cable.
Make sure that the connection cable is not pinched or kinked.
Do not use unsuitable or damaged connection cables. This could result in malfunctions and damage to the unit.
If a connected device is not recognised, disconnect all devices and connect the device again. If necessary,
check that the connecting cable you are using is working properly.
If a connected device malfunctions, restart the device. In some cases this will remedy the
fault.

Introduction
The Wi-Fi
hotspot function is not available in all countries or vehicles.
Depending on the equipment level, some Infotainment systems can be used as aWi-Fi
hotspot for using the Internet. A mobile Wi-Fi hotspot can be created for external devices if the Infotainment system
can access a SIM card with data plan, e.g. an embeddedeSIM card. Up to eightWi-Fi devices can be connected.
Depending on the equipment level, some Infotainment systems can use theWi-Fi
hotspot of an external Wi-Fi device, e.g. mobile telephone (Wi-Fi client). This can be used to establish the Internet
connection, e.g. for online services depending on the country.
An Internet connection and a data connection are required in order to be able to use online services orWe Connect,
for example, depending on the availability of these services in the respective country. You have the following options
for this:
Directly via the Infotainment system using an internaleSIM
card.
With the Infotainment system as a client via theWi-Fi
hotspot of an external Wi-Fi device, e.g. a mobile telephone.
As default, theWi-
Fi
connection is encrypted using WPA2 encryption for security reasons. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles recommends
always using WPA2 encryption. Observe country-specific regulations.
430
The necessary data transfer may be subject to charge. Due to the potentially high data usage, Volkswagen
Commercial Vehicles recommends using a mobile telephone tariff which includes a flat rate for data. For more
information contact your mobile telephone provider.
Depending on your mobile telephone tariff, additional costs, such as roaming charges, may be charged for the
transfer of online data packages, especially if you use these services abroad.
When you cross the border into countries that have different permitted radio frequencies than in your own
country, operation of the wireless function/Wi-Fi
must be deactivated due to legal requirements. The Wi-Fi hotspot must be deactivated (→ Wi-Fi hotspot – Mobile
hotspot of Infotainment system) (→ Wi-Fi hotspot – external device).
Operation of functions with a cable connection is not affected by this restriction, and these functions can still be
used.
