Central locking  
Functionality  
Central locking system  
The system unlocks and locks all doors, the fuel filler  
flap and the boot lid at the same time.  
Unlock indicator: double flashing of the indicator  
lights.  
Lock indicator: single flashing of the indicator lights.  
— Fold out the key bit.  
The warning light in the driver's door will flash for  
about 2 seconds in quick succession after the vehicle  
is locked, then it will start flashing regularly at lon-  
ger intervals.  
— Release the battery cover with your thumbnail or  
by inserting a flat-head screwdriver at the marked  
points.  
— Open the battery cover.  
If none of the doors or the boot lid is opened  
within 45 seconds of unlocking, the vehicle  
automatically locks again.  
Operation  
Ways in which central locking operates  
Depending upon vehicle equipment:  
— Key » page 21, Key Overview  
— Keyless locking (Keyless Access)» page 24, Us-  
age.  
— Remove the battery.  
— Press any button on the remote key to reset the  
key.  
— Central locking button  
— Insert the new battery.  
Lock/unlock using the central locking button  
— Fit the battery cover and press until it clicks into  
place.  
— Press the button in the driver’s door.  
The symbol in the button comes on when  
locked.  
WARNING  
Press the button in the driver’s door.  
Risk of death!  
If the battery is swallowed, serious or even fatal  
injuries can result from burns in the digestive  
tract.  
The button locks/unlocks all of the doors and the  
boot lid.  
Unlocking of the vehicle also takes place when  
opening a door from the inside or when removing  
the key from the ignition.  
Always keep children away from the vehicle key

and batteries.  
If the battery is swallowed, seek medical help  
immediately.

WARNING  
A locked vehicle with a central locking button  
makes it difficult for responders to enter the vehi-  
cle in an emergency.

— The discharged battery does not belong in the

mentally friendly manner.

— The first pull on the door opening lever: Door un-  
lock  
Troubleshooting  
Central locking fault  
— The second pull on the door opening lever: Open  
door  
— The warning light in the driver's door first flashes  
for 2 secs in quick succession.  
— Then it lights up continuously.  
— After 30 secs, it flashes slowly.  
— Seek the help of a specialist garage.  
Setting the unlocking and locking  
function  
— In Infotainment, select the following menu:

Unlocking and locking the door with the lock cylin-  
der  
Unlocking of all doors, the boot lid and the fuel filler  
flap.  
Single door  
Using the button on the key, the driver's door and  
the fuel filler flap are unlocked.  
When unlocked again, the other doors and the boot  
lid are unlocked.  
In vehicles equipped with a keyless locking system,  
the door near to which the key is located and the  
fuel filler flap are unlocked by touching the door  
handle.  
Remove the cover  
Doors on one side of the vehicle  
Using the button on the key, the doors on the driv-  
er’s side and the fuel filler flap are unlocked.  
— Pull on the door handle of the vehicle and hold it.  
— Insert the key into the recess on the underside of  
the cover.  
When unlocked again, the other doors and the boot  
lid are unlocked.  
— Lift the cover in the direction of the arrow.  
— Release the door handle.  
In vehicles equipped with a keyless locking system,  
the doors on the passenger’s side near to which the  
key is located and the fuel filler flap are unlocked by  
touching the door handle.  
Automatic locking after starting  
All doors and the boot lid are locked when a speed  
of 15 km/h is reached.  
Unlocking of the vehicle takes place when opening  
a door from the inside or when removing the key  
from the ignition.  
Applies to 10 infotainment.  
The function can be deactivated/activated in  
the Infotainment system in menu → → Light.  
Locking and unlocking  
— Insert the key into the lock cylinder and unlock or  
lock it.  
WARNING  
Install cover  
An automatically locked vehicle makes it difficult  
for responders to enter the vehicle in an emergen-  
cy.  
— Pull on the door handle and hold it.  
— Replace the cover.

— Release the door handle.  
Lock  
Locking the door without the lock cylinder  
— Close the door.  
— Open the door.  
— Press the button .  
— Insert the key or a flat-head screwdriver into the  
slot.  
After locking, it is not possible to unlock within  
2 seconds by touching the door handle.  
— Use the key or a flat-blade screwdriver to push it  
in towards the door.  
Unlocking the boot lid  
— Press the handle of the boot lid.  
After closing, the door is locked.  
Protection against inadvertently locking the key in  
the vehicle  
Deactivate keyless locking  
If the key is locked inside the vehicle, the vehicle will  
unlock itself automatically. If no door is opened  
within 45 seconds, the vehicle automatically locks  
again.  
Usage  
If the key is locked in the boot, the boot lid will au-  
tomatically unlock itself.  
The keyless locking system, (Keyless Access), ena-  
bles unlocking and locking of the vehicle without ac-  
tively using the remote control key.  
Settings  
Operation  
Deactivate keyless locking  
Keep the key with you when unlocking and locking.  
— Lock the vehicle with the button on the key.  
— Press the button on the door handle within 5 sec-  
onds.  
Release  
Deactivation is confirmed by a single flash of the  
direction indicators.  
— To check the deactivation, wait at least 10 sec-  
onds and then pull the door handle.  
The door must remain locked.  
Keyless locking is automatically activated once again  
after the vehicle is unlocked.  
— Grab the door handle.  
— Press the button .  
— Open the door.  
Troubleshooting  
The vehicle cannot be unlocked or locked with the  
remote control  
— Lock or unlock the vehicle with the button on the  
key.
