Maintaining and cleaning -> Service events for Your Volkswagen T Cross SUV First Generation (2018-2025)

Service work
Maintaining and cleaning
The following information is documented in the dig-
ital service plan by the qualified specialist workshop
or Volkswagen partner:
Service events
— When which service was performed.
service intervals
Compliance with service intervals is crucial for the
life and value of the vehicle.
— Whether a repair recommendation has been
made, e.g. a brake pad replacement.
— Whether there were special requests for or in
maintenance.
You will be notified of the due date for service with
the symbol and the corresponding message on
the display of the instrument cluster.
The specialist company notes this on the order.
— Which components and operating fluids have
been changed.
The specialist garage will inform you of the type of
service interval, the option of changing this and the
scope of service.
— When the next service appointment is.
The LongLife mobility warranty, available in some
markets, is only valid until the next inspection due.
Documentation is done at each inspection due.
Displaying the service due date in the Infotainment
system
— In Infotainment, select the following menu:
The type and scope of service work may vary from
vehicle to vehicle. The vehicle-specific activities can
be requested from one of the qualified specialist
companies.
Applies to 10Infotainment:
Car Service Settings.
Resetting information
We recommend that you do not reset the informa-
tion regarding service events on your own. It can
lead to incorrect setting of the service intervals and
thus also to possible faults in the vehicle.
Volkswagen re4commends using the services of
a Volkswagen partner.
WARNING
For vehicles with a variable service interval, new
service interval values calculated according to the
previous operating conditions will be displayed after
the oil change service indicator is reset. These values
will then continue to be adjusted according to the
current operating conditions.
Danger of accident, possibly danger of being
stranded in road traffic!
Pay attention to regular service intervals.
·
·
Have service work carried out by a qualified
specialist company.
Saving the service work carried out (“digital service
plan”)
NOTICE
Volkswagen is not responsible for damage to the ve-
hicle caused by inadequate service or defective
parts.
The service records are stored in a central system by
your qualified specialist company. Volkswagen
re4commends using the services of a Volkswagen
partner. This transparent documentation of the serv-
ice history means that the service work you have
carried out can be reproduced at any time. Volkswa-
gen recommends having a printed service record
handed out after every service carried out, which
contains the service work stored in the system..
Regular service work on the vehicle not only
helps to maintain the value of your vehicle,
but also contributes to operational and road safety.
Therefore, have service work carried out in accord-
ance with Volkswagen guidelines.
Fixed service or flexible service
With each new service, the previous service record is
replaced by a current printout. In this case, your
qualified specialist company will inform you about
the documentation of the service work.
The service events differ in oil change service or in-
spection. The service interval indicator in the instru-
ment cluster display serves as a reminder that the
next service event is due.
Volkswagen re4commends using the services of
a Volkswagen partner.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the engine
and the operating conditions, either the fixed serv-
ice interval or the flexible service interval is applied.
In some markets the digital service plan is not
available. In this case, your qualified specialist
company will inform you about the documentation
of the service work.
The type of service can be requested from a quali-
fied specialist company. Volkswagen therefore rec-
ommends a Volkswagen partner.
Service events
123
With the flexible service interval, you only need to
have your oil changed when your vehicle needs it.
The individual operating conditions and personal
driving style are taken into account to determine the
time. An integral part of the flexible service is the
use of LongLife LongLife engine oil instead of con-
ventional engine oil. Observe the information on the
engine oil specification according to VW stand-
ard » page 100.
Service scopes
The service scope includes all maintenance work
necessary to keep your vehicle operational and road-
worthy (depending on the operating conditions and
vehicle equipment, e.g. engine, transmission or op-
erating fluids). You can find out which activities are
necessary for your vehicle at a qualified specialist
workshop. Volkswagen re4commends using the
services of a Volkswagen partner. If necessary, en-
quire in the electronic repair and workshop informa-
tion system erWin.
If you do not want the flexible service interval, you
can also opt for the fixed service interval. However,
a fixed service interval can have an impact on service
costs. You can obtain more information from a spe-
cialist company.
For example, the following can be tested:
— 12-volt vehicle battery (replace if necessary)
— Lighting
Service appointments for your vehicle can be shown
via the service interval display in the instrument
cluster display, depending on the vehicle equipment.
The service interval display informs about the serv-
ice appointments that include an engine oil change
or inspection. When the respective service is due,
additional work that is due can then also be carried
out, e.g. brake fluid and spark plug changes.
— Horn
— Headlight adjustment
— Resetting the service interval display
— Exhaust System
— Gearbox and axle drive
— V-ribbed belt
Information on the operating conditions
— Cooling system
The preset service intervals are tailored to normal
operating conditions. In the case of aggravated con-
ditions, it will be necessary to have some activities
carried out before the date of the next regular serv-
ice or between the specified service intervals.
— Engine and components in the engine compart-
ment
— Engine oil level
— Axle joints and tie rods
— Tyres
Difficult operating conditions are e.g.:
— Fuel with sulphur content
— Brake system
— Joint boots
— Frequent short journeys
— Coupling rod and stabiliser bearing
— Breakdown set
— Longer periods of engine idling, e.g. taxis
— Operation in areas with heavy dust pollution
— Frequent trailer operation
— Steering
— Shock absorbers and coil springs
— Roof systems
— Predominant Stop-and-go operation, e.g. in the
city
— Windscreen
— Operation predominantly during winter
— Corrosion of the car body
— Windscreen wipers and washers
— Door arrester
This applies, in particular, to the following compo-
nents (depending on equipment):
— Active combination filter
— Air filter
— Underbody
— Toothed belt
— Particle filter
— Engine oil
— Water drains
— 1. Road test
Maintenance work
The specialist garage will be happy to advise you
whether work may be necessary between the nor-
mal service intervals given the operating conditions
of your vehicle.
In addition to the inspection work, further mainte-
nance work must be carried out on your vehicle de-
pending on the operating conditions and vehicle
equipment, e.g. engine, transmission or operating
fluids. These are time-dependent and mileage-de-
124
Maintaining and cleaning
pendent or only time-dependent or mileage-de-
pendent.
We therefore advise having all modifications, repairs
and technical alterations to the vehicle carried out
by a Volkswagen Service Partner.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the following
operating fluids and components can be changed,
for example:
Volkswagen original parts
We recommend the use of Volkswagen Genuine
Parts for your vehicle, as these parts are approved by
Volkswagen. These parts comply wholly with Volks-
wagen regulations and are identical to the parts
used in series production.
— Additive
— Active combination filter
— Brake fluid
— Fuel filter
Volkswagen is able to warrant the safety, suitability,
and long life of these products.
— Gear oil or oil filter
— Air filter
Volkswagen original accessories
— Engine oil or engine oil filter
— Oil in axle drive and differential
— Particle filter
We recommend that you use Volkswagen Genuine
Accessories in your vehicle. With these accessories,
Volkswagen stands for safety, reliability and the
suitability for your vehicle type.
— Timing belt and tensioner pulley
— Spark plugs
Spoiler
It is also possible to have maintenance work carried
out outside of the displayed service events.
WARNING
Risk of an accident!
For technical reasons, e.g. constant further develop-
ment of components, the scope of service may
change. Your qualified specialist company is always
up to date on changes.
Only use the original spoiler on the front bump-
·
er in combination with the original spoiler on
the boot lid.
The original spoiler on the front bumper cannot
Volkswagen re4commends using the services of
a Volkswagen partner.
·
be left on its own without the spoiler on the
luggage compartment lid or in combination
with an unsuitable spoiler on the luggage com-
partment lid.
Service work, adjustments and
technical changes
We recommend that you consult the Volkswa-
gen Service Partner for any repairs to or re-
placement, addition or removal of spoilers.
·
The instructions and guidelines from Volkswagen
must be observed when carrying out any modifica-
tions, repairs or technical alterations to the vehicle.
Component protection
Some electronic vehicle components (such as the in-
strument cluster) are factory-equipped with compo-
nent protection. This component protection ensures
the functional limitation of these components in
a non-legitimate installation in another vehicle (e.g.
after a theft) or operation outside the vehicle.
Adhering to these instructions and guidelines helps
ensure road safety and helps keep the vehicle in
a good technical condition.
We recommend using only Volkswagen accessories
and Volkswagen Original parts. Reliability, safety and
suitability for your vehicle are guaranteed with
these.
