Seats and head restraints -> Folding the third row of seats into the loading floor position for Your Volkswagen Tayron SUV First Generation (2018-2025)

backrest has not clicked securely into place, the seat occupant and rear seat backrest may move forwards in the event of a sudden  
braking or driving manoeuvre or during accidents.  
If the rear seat backrest is folded forwards or is not engaged securely into place, passengers must not use these seats.  
NOTICE  
Damage to the vehicle, vehicle components, particularly the seat belts and their components, or to other objects could be caused if  
the rear seat backrest is folded forwards and backwards in an uncontrolled way or without due care.  
Before folding the rear seat backrests forwards, always adjust the front seats so that the rear head restraints or rear seat cushions  
do not collide with the front seats.  
Before folding the rear seat backrest forward, make sure that there is no latch plate of a seat belt in a belt buckle.  
Before folding down the rear seat backrest, always make sure that there are no objects located in its path.  
Each rear seat can be folded down to increase the size of the luggage compartment.  
Folding seats in the third row into the loading floor position  
Third row of seats: folding the rear seat into the loading floor  
position.  
1. Open the boot lid.  
2. Push the head restraint all the way down.  
3. To avoid damage to the seat and belt, release the seat belt from both buckles.  
4. Push the seats in the second row forwards.  
5. Remove items from the floor area in front and behind the rear seat →  
.
6. Remove objects from the seat recess behind the rear seat.  
7. To unlock the rear seat backrest, pull the release lever → Fig. 1 1 fully to the rear.  
8. Guide the rear seat backrest down with your hand until it is resting flat on the seat frame →  
.
Do not transport anybody on this rear seat if it is folded forward →  
.
9. Close the boot lid.  
Folding back seats in the third row  
Third row of seats: folding the rear seat backwards.  
1. Push the seats in the second row forwards.  
2. Open the boot lid.  
3. To fold back the rear seat backrest, pull the loop on the rear seat backrest → Fig. 2.  
: fold back the rear seat backrest by hand from the vehicle interior.  
The red marking on the release lever → Fig. 1 2 must no longer be visible.  
4. Push and pull the rear seat backrest to make sure that the rear seat backrest is securely locked in position →  
5. Close the boot lid.

WARNING  
Folding the rear seats forwards and backwards carelessly could result in serious injuries. If a seat is occupied and the backrest has not  
clicked securely into place, the seat occupant and backrest may move forwards in the event of a sudden braking or driving manoeuvre  
or during accidents.  
Never fold the rear seat backrest forwards or backwards while the vehicle is in motion.  
Ensure that the seat belt is not trapped or damaged when folding back the rear seat backrest.  
When folding forwards and backwards, keep all hands, fingers, feet and other body parts away from the seat hinges and seat  
locking mechanism.  
Floor mats or other objects could get caught in the hinges on the rear seat or the backrest. This could cause the rear seat or the  
rear seat backrest to fail to lock securely when they are returned to the upright position.  
Ensure that each rear seat backrest engages securely in the upright position, otherwise the seat belts for the rear seats will not  
work properly.  
A red marking on the release lever → Fig. 1 2 shows that the rear seat backrest has not engaged securely. The red marking must  
not be visible when the backrest is properly locked in place.  
If the rear seat backrest or rear seat is folded forwards or is not engaged securely into place, passengers must not use these seats.  
NOTICE  
Items in the floor area in front of and behind the rear seats could be damaged when folding the rear seats forwards and backwards.  
Items in the seat recess behind the third row of seats could be damaged when folding the rear seats in the third row forwards or  
backwards. Remove the items before folding the seats forwards and backwards.  
Fastening elements and net cover fittings that are attached to the guide rail system could be damaged when folding the third row  
of seats forwards or backwards and could cause damage to the rear seats. Remove the fastening elements and net cover holders  
from the rail system before folding seats forwards or backwards.  
The following section describes the options for adjusting and removing the head restraints. Always ensure that your sitting position is  
correct (→ Sitting position).  
Every seat is fitted with a head restraint. The head restraints are approved specifically for the respective seat and must not be installed  
at any other seat in the vehicle.
