NOTICE
Under the rear seat there is an air inlet for the
high-voltage battery. This inlet draws in cooled
air for the high-voltage battery. Never obstruct
or cover the ventilation area under the rear
seat.
If the 12-volt battery has been disconnected,
discharged or replaced, the combustion engine
may not switch off automatically at first when
the vehicle is started. If this situation persists for
several days, contact a qualified specialist
workshop. Volkswagen recommends that you
visit a Volkswagen dealer for this.

Maintenance
The user is not permitted to carry out any
maintenance work on the high-voltage
battery.
NOTICE
Do not transport large quantities of liquid in the
luggage compartment. If the liquid leaks out, it
could get under the high-voltage battery cover.
This could damage the high-voltage network and
the battery.
The battery maintenance connector is located
under the floor of the luggage compartment
under an orange cover. This connector is only
intended for service personnel and only qualified
persons are authorised to disconnect it → page
53.

covered, obstructed or otherwise closed,
damage to the battery may occur.

If the vehicle is not used for a long period of
time, the high-voltage battery is discharged. To
keep the high-voltage battery in good condition,
the vehicle must be driven at least every 2
months for at least 30 minutes or 20 km at the
latest. If the high-voltage battery becomes
discharged and it is not possible to start the
engine with the starting aid, seek the assistance
